Hi-Does anyone know if the metal the front suspension tie bars is made out of mild steel?? Is it weldable? I've heard of short oval cars-stockrods etc lengthening the tie rods.Anybody any experience of this?? This isn't for a road car and I'm aware it would effect my suspension-Thanks

To answer your question, yes they can be welded, but I really would use an industrial 3 phase welder to get proper penetration through the metals, not done in your shed with a Clarke90 amp jobbie!

Hi-Thanks for your reply-when I get time to do it.,it'll be done as strong as possible-Thanks
Why would you lengthen them?(Genuine question)
I would of thought if anything you would want to shorten them to give you more positive caster?

Hi-You're right,to increase +castor shortening them would be right.I got mixed up thinking of an example.I was just wondering if they could be welded easily.
when mine snapped on my old sr i welded it back up.
Well yes they can, they cut through just as easy as they re-weld. I 3 phased my tie bar brackets as I realised there only held together by 4 spot welds!
