Thats defiently the work of a proper seasoned fabricator, not a garage lacky with a welder & grinder.

EDIT: Defienetly is, using the copper trick.

yeh i read on there somewhere he has like 20 years experiance. look for the drill making bit, he makes a spot welding bit from a normal bit.

and the copper trick is wicked. he does a wicked trick later on. where he cuts a tube and wants to make the Dia bigger. so he cuts it, opens it up, then rolls a bit of copper to bridge the gap and welds a massive weld across the 10mm gap and the inside is perfectly round. quality

With regards to the copper plate he uses, now you know why welding tips are made from cooper :thumb:

Ive only ever once seen a tube tapered like that by a proper old school tool room bloke. The guy that I spent some of my City & Guilds time with.

As for the drill/spot weld bit, you kinda get taught that if you do steel fab/engineering type courses.

Copper parts also work wonders for electrode tips in Spark Eroding machines.

whats a DA ?

Disc linisher type thing. Has like velcro kinda stick on pads IIRC.

Dual Action sander - its the way it oscillates in two directions

Stuart

i think i might start making a collection of random bits of metal to use as drifts. and dollys.

always handy lol

And it makes me want to go out and buy proper metal working equipment like i used in my NVQ, rather than using random bits of pipe to bend saheet metal round lol

Anyone else wanna see him make a paper (read metal) airplane?

awesome skills there. thanks for linking the thread to us. love the idea of using copper blocks, and where he used it to open up that tube.
also the spot weld drill bit is a great tip.
hats off to him some real panel skills.

kinda like a random orbit sander?

Pretty much exactly the same :)

Only difference I've ever picked up on is when people refer to DA's they're generally talking about air powered ones whereas random orbitals are the leccy ones joe public buy down Bodgeit&Quickfix
