i bought it like that lol. well i didnt know it was quite that bad but i knew the gearbox was shafted

Renaults seem to be the most reliable french car too, known plenty of ****rons and pugs go wrong. Renault are still crap though

I took a dti Laguna in part-ex once. The gearbox fell out lol. I tapped it and fixed it, happened again. So I helicoiled it and sold the POS.

Reanult gearboxs are god awful!

Been offered 2003/04 plate guna's for less than £500 and turn them down, they are probably the most unpopular cars on the road.

Good old French cars. They make everything else seem great.
If it aint the steering falling to bits, its the gearboxes or electrics.

TBH I drove my 206 gti and my mrs saxo vts to death and nothing broke on either and barely serviced them!

I drove a diesel in for an mot and tester commented how amazing it was on smoke test, then discovered no oil in there lol.

did a job for someone off zsoc last week and when i took the engine out saw big'ish chunk of ally had fallen on the floor. had a look about and found this lol

lol. This thing sounded like it had no oil in it all the time. Gearbox rattled like hell and everything was 'sloppy' but it pulled like a train and never let me down.

yep lol . those engines are well know for that Yeah! I dropped one out a mates ph1 ZS a few years back (he had put 3 holes in the block though!) and the tool bought a 1.6 16v Focus Zetec to replace it with. FFS everything down to the throttle body was different.

We told him just to buy a Puma lump! If only he had listened it would have saved me getting soaked. lol

Ben, by 1.6 S do you mean the Fiesta engine? Cos my Escort, believe it or not was a TD. lol
