As above, I need the 1.3 ENEM cam which IIRC was fitted to the Astra 1.3 and was an optional extra cam on the 1.3 Sport engine.

Please let me know if you have this with price and delivery to London. Please remember just the cam and no silly prices!

Thanks :thumb:

was this really fitted to Std astra's. I think the best bet would be to get a cam grinder to make you one, if you find the total vauxhall article on the nova sport it give you all the info needed to grind one.

A X17 Enem Cam is a very rare item, most of us Sportsters would like onelol and was never fitted to a astra as standard equipment, it is a 300 duration cam!

Novasport has a new one and sometime ago was planning to get cams manufactured to X17 spec, but died due to lack of interest

I have a Piper 285 in my Sport, works well and available off the shelf;)

So the ENEM cam is a 300 duration? That's fairly high. Was it not standard on the Astras? (I read that somewhere)

Basically I was looking for something that was going to be a quick swap over and to help release a few more ponies when added to the 2e3 carb & inlet, polished/ported head & inlet and a slightly better manifold. The cheap easy upgrade is a 1.3 Sport cam and the ultimate would've been the ENEM.

Enem may have produced production camshafts for Opel/Vauxhall but the Sport cam was not fitted as standard to a bog std Astra

I'm assuming you have a 1.3, the Sport Enem cam was designed/selecterd to run with twin 40's

The Piper 285 I am using is also developed for forties. (raised the engine from 92 HP to 103HP, at the flywheel) std SR cam prior. My Sport engine is balanced, gas flowed head, etc

I dare say the piper 285 will run with a 2e3 carb, but may be restricted on airflow top end against forties

There are plenty on cams to choose from look up kentcams AST1/AST2 nearly chose the latter for the Sport or Piper cams.

On my 1.3SR many years ago I gained 4HP at the wheels by just lightly polishing/porting a standard cylinder head, by polishing the ports inlet/exhaust, and raidiusing the sharp edge from the exhaust valve into the port.

Prior was 62HP after 66HP at the wheels had it RR'd before/after

Estimate she use to produce @85HP at the flywheel bwith the spec as follows:-

DIY polished hear, Weber 32/34DMTL carb, K & N filter, 4 branch manifold and sports exhaust.

Hope this gives you some food for thought;)

It's actually the 12ST dude! It's more of an expermental 'how much power can I get out of it for little as poss' before I fit a LET which will be a good 3 months down the line.

As my mate can do port & polishing head and inlet and parts such as the 1.3 inlet and 2e3 carb and manifold can be had for little then I thought I'd see what I can get out of the 1.2. The head is coming off for a headgasket change, again courtesy of a mate, then I will probably get the head skimmed a tad (40 thou).

Just want a very affordable yet uprated cam that will help gain some ponies. What would you suggest? Affordability is the key for this experiment.

Shall let you know dude, as the ENEM cam I'm thinking of apparently isn't in the 1.3 Astra

There's probably other members who have better experience in suggesting cams, just be careful not to skim too much off, 40 thou is 1mm you know, that will push the CR rightup.

Camshafts I have already mentioned will work, have a look at Piper & Kents websites. The standard 1.3/ SR cam has more lift than the standard cam fitted to the 1.2, so that might be a cheap option.

Cheers Royston, I have opend a thread to get an idea of what cams people have experienced and have so hopefully will get a better range of cams to shoose from. The head has never been skimmed which is why someone had suggested to me 40thou be good but obviously I'll be getting some info on it before it's done. :thumb:
