We had it bad like everyone else over christmas, it had just started to go away and then it came down hard again saturday morning. all last night and this morning it has been snowing none stop and its very deep

How do people get to work when their cars are clearly not going to make it? I usually just phone up and have a day off but i cant be doing with not getting paid. Wish this snow would fcuk right off, iv heard it's only going to get worse though :(

Is anybody actually enjoying it at the moment?

Started snowing again here, ice all over and cant even walk down the street ffs.

L33 LEG

It was icy all over yesterday. i walked into the town and was falling all over the place lol I havnt touched my drive since last week so all the snow that came down saturday is just thick ice and now all the fresh snow will be on top of it. its quite a steep drive, i doubt i can even get off it. the bm has no chance, it is buried at the moment and the splitter would just rip off anyway. i might see if the nova will get up the drive, but i can see it getting stuck elsewhere :(

I'm stuck at home as well not getting paid. People at work think i'm overreacting as they all made it in (they live a 5 minute walk away) but there is no way I can get off our street and all the buses have been stopped as well.

Stuck home today too. Got 7inch here this morning, and I didn't even bother trying to get to site in Wythenshawe. One of my mates from other side of bolton tried getting to work, had to abandon his car half way down bury rd. lol

lol thats nowt compared to what it is here now , took me 3hr45 min to take misses to work , it normally takes 15 min , had to leave car about a mile away aswell on way back , im not goin to work , got to pick her up tonight so need to get the car free lol

Snow here is as bad as that L33. lol. Nowt compared to elsewhere as Riggy says.

RWD aint so hot in these conditions is it! FWD FTW, weight over the drive wheels so more traction and if they get stuck, turning the steering barely does anything on RWD IME. lol

Why not take the splitters off just for now?

L33 LEG
05-01-10, 11:11 AM
lol i hope she was grateful for that. Looking at my pics it doesnt look too bad, the roads will be much worse than that. even last night before it snowed heavy it was bad enough.

I cant remember it ever snowing this much, at least for over 15 years or so. Is it actually going to stop? lol

The only time i drove the bm in the snow was just before xmas, was on the way back from work and i had a queue of 40 cars behind me going 1mph and they were wondering why i was going so slow until they realised what car i was in. even one of my neighbours was in the queue and he was talking to my mum about it the next week saying how much my car was clearly struggling. only driven it once since then lol

I could take my bumper off the bm, but itl still be impossible to drive it. im not sure how well the nova will cope yet, i dont really want to risk it. i have been driving my dads car for the past few weeks to go to work, but hes busy tonight. Looks like im just going to have to have another day off. I've just found out that the people who lives in the town as my work have all phoned in saying theyre stuck, so its not as if they wont believe me.

Riggy - thats deep lol a good few inches more than here. Me and my mates were driving over yorkshire way the other night looking for some snow fun, we might try bolton way next Lol.

I went out with my mate the other night, New Years day to be exact. We found it 7/8" deep and his mighty winter motor just soldiered through it and up the banks no-one else could manage! lol. That thing hasn't been stuck once yet!
You can see the beast here - and yeah, I was stuck. lol

No snow here. Hard frost this morning (-5 last night I think) which is enough to make people drive like fukktards.

Shame as I'm off work for a while still and the Celica likes snow :(

Sun came out for a bit this morning to melt the ice and warm things up; its supposed to rain in a bit then freeze over again. Nice.

[edit] Yeah its actually raining now. lol

Bondage snowman?! lol

Wow, the rain turned to snow for about 10 seconds. Now its stopped. Apparently the local BBC weather forecast said around 6 inches of snow tonight. Yet online it says "light snow". I'm reckoning that means rain tonight lol

We had a bit of snow last night, nothing major though :(

The Omega is loving it, traction control off, sport mode engaged. Only problem i'm having is it takes up alot of road when its going sideways lol

05-01-10, 03:51 PM
About 5" here now. Last night was really sketchy with all of the ice and no fresh snow. The car stepped out big style going down a bank in the B&Q car park. I was inches away from taking down a one way sign with my quarter. lol

vaughanmc
05-01-10, 03:53 PM
We had some more snow last night as well maybe about 1" max on top of another 6" of snow/ice maybe

The MAIN roads (motorways/dual carriageways) have seen gritters but the rest of the place hasn't! My street is an icerink! Usually a 3-pt turn at the end of the road but I managed a 1-pt turn today :thumb: lol

Updated pics to compare to this morning.

My missus work is paying for her to stay in a hotel so she doesn't have to risk trying to get home later.
