Hi what is the best gear box to use on a e16se an f13cr or a f15cr? I am using 15" alloys.

Essentially the same (you wouldnt really notice any diffrence) worth notong that the F15 will probably be newer/less miles

the f13cr is what they fitted new to that engine, so it gets my vote.

the f15 is harder to work on especially if you want a clutch doing

I had a f13cr on my ned engine and the gears gust broke. I went to shift in second gear and it just went. It had been on this engine for only one week

You can get a F13 from a corsa/astra (as per all 3 ive had) Yer they dont have the access plate so its gearbox off to change clutch but providing you put a new clutch on when you fit your prob never have to change it.

I'd say that was either poor maintenance (ie oil too low) or poor use to cause that as I've only seen two proper F13 failiures and one of those was a quaife SCCR setup that ate baulk rings lol, the other was a 5th gear that simply had enough after many years raping it lol

The whole new engine is new i have changed every thing + giving new oil to the gearbox. Just to give you an idea, i know this picture aren’t the f13 gears but to show you what exactly happened in my case. Where there is the line it snapped in half.

I was thinking to changing for an f16cr gearbox same ratios but more stronger. Are f15cr gears a little stronger than an f13?

Nope i had baught a complete engine from RSTChris (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/member.php?u=22361) which im affraid hes not a good seller. I had paid him for a gsi badge and never arrived and phone him sever time but he used to cut of the line. Yours is a spare for the autocross car :)

std 1600's wont kill a healthy well maintained box.

Odds on you were driving like a tool with a badly aligned linkage and low oil that cause that failure.

No not really. You had a bad/abused box, end of. Remember many of these are 20 years old now. People need to bear this in mind when deciding to tune engines with over 100k miles, its nuts.

I always say it, but I have had turbo engines on F13's & 15's with no troubles. Nearly double the torque of the N/A's. I never even suffered clutch slip.
