Cutting out?

I know this is probably a school boy problem,
but i havent the time to check it atm.
Well basically the engine makes a slapping noise
and it cuts out when i brake with clutch in? (battery light comes on,
then cuts out)
i am thinking its the alternator belt loose but meh.

Could be a vaccuum leak to/from the brake servo. Mine did something similar and needed a new rubber seal where the vaccuum pipe meets the servo.

Jam something between the brake pedal and the seat, start it in neutral then listen for a hissing sound under the bonnet. :)
