i remember the one with the escort cossie hexagonal seats.

got the feature in tv some where around here

It was featured in TV last year midsummer iirc, was still owned by the tuning place/garage that built it at the time aswell, and the spec was damned impressive, although whether it would work and be reliable remains to be seen, as we all know that no expense spared builds dont always work, look at Rick Drapers build (no offence) but although that had all the dollar and parts in the right places it was just too much!

It was done by a couple of companys near me. Lad didnt pay up so they kept the car.

The chap who's garage it was in lives of the g/f's close. Will try and find out :)

And the car was built originally by a guy from Oldham called Dave Coley who owned Just Nova Spares, it is Caribic Blue with extra green and originally had a x16xe back in 1997, reg begins with NIL.

I doubt it. The garage probably would have broken it up and sold in parts as they'd never get their money back on it as a whole.

02-05-11, 10:13 PM
The car started being built in Derby and burnley car audio took the project on for me to finish it, I payed a huge ammount of money and they just kept asking for more...crazy when i bought most of the parts!

t45_ste
02-05-11, 10:15 PM
so you never got the car back from them? Have you not spoke to them? How much did you put into it if you dont mind me asking?

novanil
02-05-11, 10:21 PM
Ive got receipts for over 50k since I got the car at 17, me and my pal got bored adding up at that point! No never got it back, I just cut my losses when they started being funny with me. I had payed for all the stereo and most of it was already in the car along with the roll cage, seats etc. I have got pics to show it had every new panel on it all genuine parts, even bought new door seals, window runners, lights, motors etc!

novanil
02-05-11, 10:22 PM

Gonna give them a call defo. I knew they had put it up for sale but that was a crazy ammount. All the receipts are at my friends house with what I payed them, Im gonna go get them tomorrow and just see how much they had. They may have a few thou left in it max

novanil
02-05-11, 10:32 PM
They didnt take it off me, they wouldnt give it me back, they wanted too much money to settle the bill and i was disputing it.

t45_ste
02-05-11, 10:34 PM
Can i ask what they wanted off you? Did you go to the CAB?

Edd
02-05-11, 10:38 PM
Just go and get IMO

If someone was fooking me about like that, and if everything is true what you've said, I would go and get it back

Did you agree a price then they wanted more ?

novanil
02-05-11, 10:45 PM
I had known them for a while and trusted them to finish the project for me, they were only doing the ice build for me but when the first garage fooked it up they said they would complete it for me. They kept saying it would be ready in a few weeks and that turned to months/years! They wanted 10k in the end and I had already payed them a huge sum of money.

wilson_sri
02-05-11, 10:45 PM
Why the hell would you leave it with them??

I had a smilar issue with a garage a few years ago. Kept demanding money, which i refused as could not see where it was going. They initially refused to give me the car back, so i got on the case to trading standards who told me that was illegal. They have to give you the car back, as it is legally yours. And then they would have to take it up in court. So i took that to them, and took the car away after threatening them with getting the police down which you can do as well.

Do you still have the v5?

novanil
02-05-11, 10:46 PM
Whats the cab? they wanted another 10K!

I know exactly where the car is right know I've even done work on it last year
Car was bought legally, receipt and V5 both there, I know the new owner would like the receipts if you are willing to hand them over?
It was sold well over 2yrs ago

I don't want this reply to turn to **** please the new owner bought the car in good faith, and has spent a fortune on.
It made 350bhp+ then the inlet started leaking it was put in the garage and not been touched since as he already has another nova gsi turbo and a 991 997 twin turbo

02-05-11, 11:16 PM

Mieran

Try to get it back though if you can.

Big_Chap
03-05-11, 12:39 AM
I don't mean to sound like a d**k but how can you spend 50k on a nova? I just can't see where that amount of money can go! Even with numerous paint changes etc and high end let rebuilds.

Edd
03-05-11, 12:46 AM
^^^^ very true

So,

Lad takes nova to have work done
Can't afford/doesn't agree with final cost
Gives up and leaves it with company doing work
They apply for the V5 document so the can sell to reclaim cash

Did you get a letter from the DVLA asking if you were the keeper of the veichle? Should of said if no reply they will issues the V5 to the applicant

If you had this letter and ignored it, game over

If not they've stolen it
Then they sell it on
As above someone has continued to spend cash
Tbh as it's got this far your out of luck IMO

What ever has happened you need to go to the cops tbh, can't see you sorting it another way

Or two Supertourers? lol

10/15 + years ago you couldn't! A lot of you don't seem to be aware of how much it used to cost for ICE installs, custom bodywork, even stuff like a set of 17" wheels were once £900+! It easily adds up!

Plus, yeah he spent £50K, but I guarantee you it wasn't all in one go. Things add up over time!

Agreed with the above, this is going to have an interesting outcome.

I was looking through old max powers.

And fair play, stuff is so cheap now!

Wheels where a grand, suspention £500 odd

Then bodywork was dear etc, bodykits £700, then fitting.

I had over £20K in a Primera. I could see £50K disappearing frighteningly easily when you add in labour tbh!

Matt, he says he has receipts for over £50K, but that doesn't mean it was all on the incarnation of the car that we have seen. I bet many parts have come and gone.

Courtenay used to charge circa £7K for an LET conversion too iirc.

No and i'm not picking a fight to say it isn't worth 10k, but my mates LET build which lets be honest is the lion share of value wouldn't be anywhere near the cost of that - he had 450ish on standalone.

Add 5-6k for the shell, I can't honestly see it past 25k.

Ben
05-05-11, 07:30 AM
but as said its probably not £50k to get it to its current guise, i know people who have spent 20-30k on novas but you could build a complete replica of there cars for £10k but they have done all the trial and error to get it there.

regarding the guy who says the car is actually his and the garage wouldn't let him take it back.

I have had 2 experiences,

1, not so serious but had work agreed to be done on my first Nova by a cowboy garage, they also replaced bits without asking permission so the bill was far bigger. I told them i would be back in 1 hour and that all the original bits will be back on the car, do not do anything without my agreed consent. Needless to say they also did some nasty bits like removed the thermostat, removed the clips that help the radiator and just put plastic ties in. They will never recieve my business or anyone I know again.

2. I had a mini which was put to a guy to put a new front end on, he said it would be 3 weeks, well 6 years later it was still lying minus the front end, I turned up with a mates trailer and removed it, it is my property and he had not completed the work agreed. end of story, my car!

I stopped counting at around £30K on my Nova, It all add's up. Mine has been over the last 14 years or so. Originally paying a company to fit the 16v engine, £1000 for a set of Speedlines from Courtney about 13 years ago, various suspension and brake setups, numerous resprays. I learnt from my mistakes and fitted Turbo Engine ourselves. As someone has said it was trial and error back in the day and I could build it for less than 10k again. Money is recouped by selling stuff though which isn't taken in account...

Standard or Motorsport cars came with basic karmen seats, lux came with either grey, red or green hex recaros. Red is rare, green is mega rare! Then the option of the raven leather.
And then the montes had raven flow cloth I think! (looks like sick!)lol
