Hi i know this is suppose to be a tricky job but has anyone attempted this and got a good result? I only ask as my my headlining has fire damage and i would like to replace it rather than have no headlining. :d

It's not hard as such more of a very slow task. You need to take it off very slowly and carefully as it can very easily tear. Refitting is much easier imo.
I took mine off, tore it in a couple places tbh, but I re-finished it in suede so it didn't really matter that much.
I understand mk2 head lining is much easier than mk1?
why is t easy? i hated it.. and decided to rip it out and run without one lol

I done mine on my mk2, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, as said do it slowly and carefully and you'll get a good result :thumb:

Mk2 dont have the bits coming down the pillars etc.

Cool has anyone took their old headlining out and remade a new one using the original as a pattern? I would be using some proper headlining material:d

I did, but I stitched over the original headlining.

Quite easy, just need time, patience & the right tools.
I have done three so far and have another to do. First was the wrong lining which I had to modify to fit with a sunroof & the 3rd was a brand new uncut lining which was fun.
Tube of impact adhesive & plenty of plastic sprung clamps.
