Being that they only cover the cross member to chassis seam and a small bit of the o/s engine out and the top of the gear box mount.

How do these two strengthen the shell at all? Cant see how they would an less i'm missing something.

Info me up.

Im guessing they make the metal thicker and stop it from flexing as much but i really dont know.

i think it spreads the force away from the crossmember sides.

they also around to the inner wing!
once you tack it in place, i had to hammer it around to be flat on the other side.
where the inner wing meets the front panel it has a bend on it. it strenghens this area also!

i think i know what you mean, like run out the chasis legs to the front panel but that would make the front end very solid, you need a bit of flex really dont you? although saying that a space framed front would be mega stiff also. you could be onto something!:thumb:

when i was looking at the ones that are on my car, they are far far oversized for what is actually needed in that area (meaning the massive plate on top of the chassis rail) far more strenght could have been achived from plating the underside rather than cover half the chassis rail. imo somebody a few years made some plates, every one copied and it an is what had been made ever since lol

See i've never seen the point, hence asking. Even more after seeing the pics.

I welded all the seems that tag the cross member to the chassis as this seemed better. Where the plates seem to finish just after the join..
