SR's came with either 14" steel rims or an option was the 14" 3 spoke alloys the same as GTE's and GSi's

What year of SR is it as early Mk1's either had the steel rims or alloys and later Mk1's had wheeltrims IIRC

You looking to buy a whole car ?

Early early Nova back wipers went to the right but the later ones went to the left

I'm sure by looking at the backs seat pattern the interior was exact same as a Sport :)

the sr is already 20hp more with a nice interior & some decent wheels & a factory bodykit...

at your age you should be keeping things simple for the insurance

keep your eye out here, most folk will know most motors, or know if there scrap, and never rush into buying a nova, some look great on the outside but are scrap on the inside

nova josh
30-12-09, 09:28 PM
thats what i thaught i am going to get a white one and add a mk1 front end and the 3 spoke alloys (if not already on) then should be good but will want a cheaper one wiv some work needed.

Joe Richardson

what horses do the 1.2 and 1.3 engines put out??

mowgli
30-12-09, 09:36 PM
1.2 50ish
1.3 70ish

nova josh
30-12-09, 09:40 PM
would they function properly with and massive exhaust or less silencers??

vaughanmc
30-12-09, 09:45 PM
Mk1 Nova's don't come with a cat anyway so you could add a 4-branch to free up some horses and a wee backbox to free some up and add a wee noise

Don't go all chavvy on it and put a huge exhaust

Get a 1.0 or a 1.2 and do it up like an SR to keep costs down then either put a 1.3/1.4 SR engine in or buy the real deal :)

mowgli
30-12-09, 09:49 PM
a big exhaust will make your car slower on the road.... a decent backbox will make it sound nicer, a four branch will make power higher up the rev range...

the std exhaust is pretty good

nova josh
30-12-09, 09:50 PM
i dont want it to be big i want it to look fairly standard like one small ish pipe but to kick out a big noise i.e ma dads mk2 astra http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l121/mickg_2006/Picture005-1.jpg
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l121/mickg_2006/Picture112-1.jpg
looks almost standard but kicks a very loud noise out due to be nearly straight through.

Joe Richardson

^ is that the mk2 astra which had a project title of 'welding project'?

1.3sr would be a hoot for a first car, I'd spend my money on re-newing worn componants to freshen and tighten it up again. The mk1 sr's just scream 'retro racer' at me now.

nova josh
30-12-09, 09:58 PM
that would be welding project mate on astra-mk2.com its been at billing past 2 years and pvs.
