i have recently won a Zender front valance on ebay.de.

should of read the listing in detail because the seller does not accept paypal.

he wants a bank transfer.

is this safe to do ?

im thinking you dont have any way of claiming the money back like paypal if it all goes wrong ?

i would like the valance but dont want to leave myself open to a scam.

anyone with any help/experiences ?

thanks in advance.

Edd.

You need his bank details an then need to contact your bank about doing a BACS transfer (Bankers Automated Clearing System) if your fussy you could do a CHAPS which is same day but it'll cost you. (Clearing House Automated Payment System). BACS payments are sent FOC an take around 3 to 5 working days depending who you bank with.

Your not really very open to a scam at all, as your bank can trace any funds sent so you could potentially claim them back if needed.

I've done it before to send money for a german part, "iban" transfer.

Thing was the bank charged me something like £20 for the privilege and I don't think I had any recourse over my cash if it went awry.

[edit] Mike, BACS is only for UK banks iirc? You can do a EBACS but thats the same as iban I think...

Iv got his bank details.

I take I just go into my bank with details then ?

He has a good feedback so hopefully no problem.

Don't all ebay users now have to accept paypal as part of their user agreement?

Just call them up Edd to make the transfer......... Ive had to pay this way a few times and never had any issues. As said above though they do charge you for the privelege and charges may differ so Id ask first if I were you.

Nope. Well, only if you registered after 17th Jan 2007, and I have a feeling that even then you can still offer payment on collection.
