Ok i wanted to put cav turbo wheels on the car, the way it was explained to me goes like this :
You need to use cavalier 5 stud hubs but the hole for the driveshaft is bigger so you need to use bigger drveshafts and in orde to use them you need to put an XE :tard:
How can i put cav turbo wheels on a smallblock, what hubs can i use ?
have the standard hubs/discs remachined to 5 stud. or have some shafts made to take big block outers and small block inners.

Cut n shut shafts. Some people will cringe but when I bought my old red nova as a 2ltr 8v the guy who converted that had sleeved together the big block shafts to the small block. I ran them for about 2yrs as a 2ltr 8v, then several as an XE and only when I went ph2 LET did they let go. Could be the simple answer for you if you really want them.
My dad makes trikes for a living and he does it to cut down reliant axles, he had a 140bhp V-max run through them and there still going!!
Try it!!

Cut n shut shafts.
Exactly what I would do in this instance. They need to be welded & sleeved properly, but done right it will be fine.

Its how they used to convert shafts back in the day - the Courtney and Regal supplied shafts were like it years ago....
For the hassle, I wouldnt bother - the offset/width mean that they rub front and rear arches too...

Erm 49mm et and 6.5" wide... They are the same as speedline al'2.

I didnt think they were et49, close but more like et42... Only guessing.
All of the 9 i have are all et49. Corrected.
Really? Mk 3 astra are 45 iirc and Novas are 47.5 so there! lol
I assumed that the Cav T rims werent correct, looking at those that have been converted have all had arch work on fr and rear...?
47? Never seen that before... All the mk3 Astra alloys i've seen are all 49.
I've only seen about 3inc mine that run turbo rims and don't remember them having arch work.. Well bar abit of rolling, mine fronts are pulled cause i run it low. On the rear i have loads of room.

Only Nova GSI was 47.5 Will. True about Astra mk3 & Vectras weren't et49 either. I'm still convinced the turbo wheels are lower than et49. Pic of rear of wheel Benn...

Adam mk3 astra wheels he has for sale atm are et46.

Of course Mr Pedantic! lol I think all GM steels are 49.
Mk3 deffo not 49, I guessed at 47 - but they are something like that!
I just remember Chris S's Turbo arches being flared and they still rubbed? It may have been baloon tyres thouigh I guess...
**EDIT** 46 is close enough John! ;-)

Oh i was thinking of his and thought he didn't. But if he run semi slicks you cant get them in 45 so that might be why.
wouldnt cut and sut shafts need balancing?
wouldnt cut and sut shafts need balancing?
Ideally yes.
wouldnt cut and sut shafts need balancing?
Yeah not a big job tbf, local place to me who make/repair props can do driveshaft balancing.

so were do you drill etc ??
I wouldn't wanna drill hubs i've gotta say. I'd rather (and have) run cut and welded shafts,

You can't re-drill the std Nova hubs, they aren't larger enough to fit the 5 x 110 pcd on to them, the holes would be 1/2 off the edges !!

couldnt you machine the larger 5 stub hub flanges from the cav down to suit the nova bearing set up size?
or am i talking ****e and getting the wrong jist of things as im still drunk?

Yes this is how mine are done. But then you'd need big block cvs to fit the hubs. Hence needing cut and welded shafts...
