My Cheap road legal track car <3

Good evening gents and ladys, i brought this 1.2 mk2 Vauxhall Nova from bmw156 (Martin top lad) for the nice sum of 200 fine english notes :thumb:

The plan is to build a cheap road legal track car it will be used everyday for getting me to work and taken to every track day i can attend. I have a ford mondeo turbo derv estate for my main car (some will say booo but it hasnt really gone wrong yet lol)

Not much been done since i got it think i have had it for 2 weeks or so.. but a list of things i have managed to do are...


Take all the gear outta the back of the nova and put it into my nicely sorted shed
Strip the rear out, taking the seats out, carpet out, shelf out and grinding all the seat brakets etc away as i wont be needing them anymore.
Buy myself a grinder,tools,flood light, good extension lead etc etc.three pictures of how it sits at the minute will take more tomorrow/during the week some time. (note to self need to get a better digi cam)

List of things that need to be done/ i want/i need list lol... :wtf:


Repair both front wings myself
Buy passanger sill (its forked)
buy both or just one rear arch depending how bad the other one is
ATE brakes upgraded discs and pads + some sort of upgrade on the rear
Gsi front bumper, front dash, skirts and spoiler
loads of repairs to be done plates made up for repairing etc (waitin for shop to open for metal)
Buy the other 2 tigra wheels i need (waiting to see him again)
Lower it 40 or 60mm (got the 40mm kit at a friends)
freshen up the 1.2 engine for now somehow lol..
give it a bloody good clean!
Repair under the headlights
Get the funds together for a c20xe and all the stuffMiss's is nagging me to go to bed if i think of anymore ill add them lol :thumb:

That will flex like ****! Not an ideal track car for sure.

Just make sure you fix all the rust before you go doing track etc mods.

@Aw06 : hopefully it will not flex once all the rust has been sorted etc, rear inside is being seam welded as well by me for a bit more strength. And obv when the xe goes in the bay will be seam welded as well.

@bmw156: hehe cheers buddy gonna be a bit of a slow progress hopefully get it on the road (probly will the 1.2 in still) for summer fun. Thats the latest anyway.

Update:

Just a little update of what i have managed to do dueing the snow lol.

-Strip the rear seats out
-Grind off the rear seat mounts, got a few more to do before there all gone.
-Find a rust hole on the inner arch N/S/R will have a patch.
-Take the O/S/R inner inner arch (inside the car)back to metal checking for rust but it is all good.
-Fix my welder (packed up but back to full health now)
-Buy four tigra wheels for the ATE calipers to fit under when i get some.
-Buy a Passanger sill should be here within the next few days.
-Get two bloody big sheets of 1mm steel for patchs etc.

Update: I won a c20xe engine box ecu on ebay and go collect it at the end of the month


Gonna be fully rebuilt before it goes in with some little tricks hopefully :thumb:

hehe heya mate, paid 250 for the engine gearbox and ecu pretty good imo.

Erm got a good friend called lewis and his boss is letting me keep it at his garage. So access to a awsome welder, garage and 4 poster ramp. Pictures will be taken tomorrow (we are towing it there)

Yes we did get away with towing it, got pulled by to police got out greeted them nicely explained what we was doing etc and we got away with it (could of got down for no eletrics on the nova and sharp edges i guess)

We decided to use the classic jack and wood on the sump. Could have used a engine bar thing on the wings but i didnt want to risk damaging them lol

nice work nat, to find out what box it is, look behind the gear selector and it should be caked in ****e, but will be there lol.

will either be f16 or f20

Hopefully next weekend am gonna be going up there again, starting on the patch welding now etc, got a hell of a lot to do so should be a "ok" welder by the end of it all lol...

Hopefully next week end will see the front end fully sorted including, inner archs, under the headlights, front wings, and front slam panel (behind the bumper) I did do one bit of welding last sunday but it blew a few holes so i shall be plating the otherside of it for more strength.

At home am slowly sorting out the shed and collecting some bits n bobs (like tables and that lol) to build the engine on. A heater in there wouldnt go a miss lol!

Well due to certain people being idiots etc the nova is back home with me
at the moment am currently collecting panels!

I have to arch panels arrived and i just won this lot on ebay :)
