Id search for some of Will Foy's maybe on the billing threads.... There's not many others that have so much of a comprehensive cage on here I dont think.

Edit..........

"pointless" lol ~ next you could tell us there's no value in adding the weight if you don't crash it.

Are you a total retard? Try telling any BTCC/WRC team its pointless. I think your wasting of ait is pointless tbh ftw wop

I almost agree with this guy here, but only about the picture the guy posted. The triangulated strut tops and linking them to the roll cage is a great idea, however execution of it is crucial. I would be tempted to say The one in the picture won't do a great deal (possibly a little with the boxing) as the strut top will shear and bend in a crash (although if you have proof of it otherwise then please accept my apologies - I.e. custom cages welded that). Btcc/wrc cars all have them going to the rear of the strut top to stop that and they are plated to spread the load.

Don't get me wrong, its a great idea, but like the rest of the roll cage, ain't gonna help much if it ain't done right.

If you search on Google "strut to triangulation" you will get some good pictures of it. Hth

your a mongo,as george g said,in what way do you think that is gonna provide any protection,it would shear of like a twig, and rapeher ever seen a wrc car with the cage there,no as it is pointless, its gotta be behind the strut as you know, end of the day if thats how you think it should be then crack on:tard:

Its called Forward Triangulation for those that dont know.

vauxboi88

it also stops the car bending after being airborne as i have seen a few times now other wise it will bend in the middle with or without a cage

Pretty much total rubbish.

Hard worked Nova shells have a habit of kinking in the middle at the scuttle/firewall. Easy to spot by two kinks at the base of the A pillars.

Forward triangulation welds/bolts to the inner wing as shown in the pics, and stops the strut top heading skywards rather than backwards, while also keeps the inner wing/front corner in place in the event of a head on.

It was good enough for the works Group A cars to be done this way. They were bolted.

Rally or modified caged Nova's without it should be ignored IMHO.

Got a works (Pilbeam) bolt in cage in my rally car. Will take some piccies.

It doesnt bend in the middle as such, it bends the chassis legs, an you end up having to chop out & replace the entire front corner right back upto the firewall. That is a mega ball ache to do aswell unfortunatly.

You can porta power it out, but it ends up rought as fook and the metal fatigue can weaken the chassis legs immensly.

It's funny that even Custom Cages seem to think it's ok...

Tidyed up with plates I bet it's just as strong as the CC one..

Oh dear - I had better nip out and remove mine then! lol

My build thread has loads in it - when it was a bare shell too, so no nasty XE gubbins getting in the way!;)

Fair play. I think i have been proven wrong :thumb:. Personally, i dont think its too good, but if custom cages think it is then i cant really argue with it... :)

The level of stupidity on this forum never fails to amaze me lol

When will people realise that it's best to just shut up when you don't really know what you're talking about???

There's plenty cages out there using that setup for the front triangulation and it's very effective and strong. As for the strut tops shearing..... wtf????

Running the upper down the side of the strut on a nova in terms of packaging and strength is by far the best option as taking it to the centre of the strut at the rear would offer no real benefit in terms of strengthening the chassis against bending.

And if anyone would like to argue, I worked for Custom Cages for 4 years, I now build WRC shells, I do know exactly what I'm talking about.

Thankyou, hth etc etc
