puss puss, a seam welded shell only really works properly with a full cage.. as it is all about shell stiffness. if you have done the front, then logic says to keep going thru to the rear or you will have a shell that is stiff at one end & bendy at the other, which means that something has got to give eventually.

in my humble opinion, a rear brace is as much use as a cadbury's fireguard, unless it is also fitted as part of a full cage setup with coilovers.. other will disagree, but all rear damper forces are vertical so tying the two damper tops together is a waste of metal

Ernie,
What's with the flat floorpan in the boot? Does that actually give you any advantage? (sorry to hijack the thread a little)

My mk1 is the same as Iainel's at the rear turrets, I only stitched it here and didnt carry on doing all the floor though, i did the rear turrets because i'm going to be running rear coilovers where the spring is integral to the shock so no need for a spring on the beam! Thus moer pressure going through the rear turret area!
