they really are not a complicated thing to do yourself.. what is up with it, and how much time/money are you prepared to put into it?

the satisfaction of putting a whole engine back together is well worth the effort

While the car is off the road i wanted to get it overhauled so its good for the next few years, its not for more power etc.

The engine has oil leaking from somewhere as well as the sump and also a suspected head gasket issue.

The lack of spare time with work and my little one makes spending hours in the garage not always easy lol

bedroom floor ftw or in front of the telly. get a bit of perspex from b&q and convince she who must be obeyed that its a coffee table a la top gear..

seriously, there is a federation of engine reconditioners, look here for some names (http://www.fer.co.uk/fer/portal/main/SearchList.asp?Postcode=northeng&Section=Find%20a%20Member&SubSect=23+North+England+%26+Wales)

yes just standard rebuild really nothing serious, i would upgrade parts to better ones depending on price.

If you're wanting some bits done, then i highly recommend Road and Stage motorsport in morecambe/lancaster... it's lancashire but if you're west yorkshire it shouldn't be too far.

Built me a 1600 bottom end with a fair amount of work and it was awesome.

IIRC the rebuild cost was £500, with machining/shop work done ontop of that. He even installed it and setup my carbs e.t.c so it's not a bad price.
