I'm planning to get my 1300 8v engine rebuilt in the coming months ready for my Mk1 Nova
Not going OTT with the engine just want it back to standard and running as it should be as it's no been started and ran in a good while
Just wondered what all I'd need to get the engine back up and running
Gaskets, Belts, Water Pump etc
I need to know what ALL I need so the engine runs spot on
Cheers in advance,

piston rings, maybe oversize pistons & a rebore, big end shells, a complete gasket set, with crank seals, oil pump gear set, cam belt, plugs & leads.
then the valves need grinding in, the hydraulic lifters need dismantling & cleaning, head skim???
and get a light blue haynes book

oh, and don't rebuild it in your bedroom....
1. your mum will go ape
2. they are buggers to carry downstairs.

Nahh it'll be done where the car is kept :)
yeah, i thought that, but a cold winters night on a concrete floor is not the most inviting place to work

lol Got a heater and it'll be started when the bodywork is finished
Got one of those Haynes Manuals here as well - Does it matter if the engines been rebuilt before ? Re-Bored etc...

if you clean the piston tops, it should have the oversize figure. so, if the bore wear isn't excessive, you can order oversize rings.
remember, the block will handle a 3mm overbore to take the 1200 pistons easily, so it will cope with several minor rebores if necessary

1200 pistons in a 1300 block ?
1200+1300=1400cc, up to 11:1 cr, or get the pistons dished out and run at 10:1cr on unleaded. a handy performance upgrade (and invisible to the eye)

Something I'll look into - The engine has still to be stripped down
But it does turn!
