PS3 or 360?

Right plan is to get as much info of people on here that either own one, or both consoles etc.

I have played both, but more on the PS3 then the xbox 360.

Here's my impressions on them.

360 seams to have on some games over complexed controls (eg fifa)
Again on some games better graphics the PS3,or PS3 same game etc..
It also seams to rocket in price terms for all the add-on's to play online etc.
XBOX only games, some of the most notable being the forza one's, they look amazing, are they better to play/look at then such PS3 game like race driver by code masters??
the dreaded RED RINGS!, can this be stopped, what causes it etc etc

PS3 seams to feel the same to play as a PS2, but again some controls with the dual sticks only are a bit iffy to get on with etc..
This also has games that have better graphics to the xbox same games (how can this be??)
I have noticed that the PS3 is pretty much ready to play online with no extra hidden cost's just set to your wireless and play.
Also there is some cracking PS3 only games that could steal it for me, GT5, wipe out HD etc? (im sure there is others too)
Dose the PS3 have it's own "red ring" type failure waiting to happen????

So these are my little first hand pro/cons, now before i part with my money in the new year, or boxing day i want to get as much feedback from you lot who have one, or both.

I have a PS3 but have played the 360 too, I prefer the PS3 but Halo is a spankingly good game on the XBox, I wouldn't let titles sway you one way or the other, as each console has some crackers

It seems they've fixed the 3 red rings with the Jasper chip.

Also a few of my mates have a ps3 and have said they would quite happily pay the £30 a year to have a online system like the xbox. Also when playing online ive notice the Xbox gets into the games far quicker than the PS, wether its because there are 10 time more Xboxers or due to the console itself im not sure !

Halo 3 is a reason in itself to buy a Xbox

Played mod war 2 on both and i thought the graphics a touch more real on the Xbox and the controlers far easier to use on the xbox (But i would say that as I love my xbox)

Yeah but mike if i was getting one it would be the elite (120gb) or the PS3 (250gb) so it's going to that much cheaper for me.

yeah bluray, its updateable too unlike most decks, so thats a plus for the ps3.

ive got a 360 and played on a ps3 a few weeks ago, the controllers felt too small, the x-box controller feels 'right' and the buttons are not too close, as for game like whats been said dont let title sway you, forza 3 is so much better than the gt games

serious fun with mates.

if casual. go for PS3. every day of the week. if your only gonna play it for a few days a week or even a month. ps3. from owning a xbox and playing online, you feel as if you have to get the most out of the online your paying for. now i have a ps3. i dont care about playing half as much and its just a time filler really.

games. blah, there are just as good eqivalents on each console. i do still prefere xbox games though lol.

controllers. xbox is better

and i have a 80gb ps3. and im 99% sure it doesnt have wireless. and i always thought it did. so watch that.

xbox is very "solid" as in you cant do alot with it/to it with out knowing alot.

ps3, you can change hard drives easily to massive ones.

ps3 has an internet browswer and Iplayer on it already.

lol, i did my disertation on the Wii, PS3 and the xbox.

the wii controls are ok to use, take a bit of geting used to. the tennis is crap for controls. and yeh its very disruptive in its innovation in the games consoles in general. but look at what nintendo have always done, they have always had different consoles. n64/gamecube/Wii. always changing.

look at the playstation. ps1/ps2/ps3. they had an idea and took it forward. thus sustaining their innovation

xbox live is awesome, more of a community i feel, but 40 quid compared to free.

play classic ps2 games like old gta's on ps3, can you on xbox? no, but you can pay 15 quid for them if you want.

my main reason, ps3 doesnt have forza, and im not sure gt5 will be able to match it, but we will have to wait and see, if my xbox breaks, i dont know what il do, all my friends have xbox bar some, but ps3 seems more sensible

Cheap as chips to buy compared to the PS3, games are a tad cheaper and not in silly expensive BluRay format, Windows compatible; so link it to your windows pc and get more use out of it, HD DVD player is cheaper then chips to buy and the HD films are well cheap too got shizzle loads starting from £2, rings of death very rare now on the newer models, graphics as good as PS3. Only thing is the games, not all are on 360 and vise versa.

Id have an XBox over a PS3 given the choice. Purely because every one i knoew has one, which is billy bonus come online play time.

Buy yourself the lowest of low model with a 20GB HDD an get a 120GB HDD via eBay for £40, winner (not that you'll ever use it all anway...)

As for wireless live gaming lol that sucks ass, its 50/50 wether you get a good connection most of time (going from counltess hours of live COD playing where I end up as the host as everyone else is wireless on a below average connection)

Scott Dont get me wrong, some games make the control system very very good. But other "normal" games like football etc it just seems to make the controls overly complex compared to 360/ps3.

Tiger woods on the other hand is a top game with the Wii controls....

Im buying a new 360 tomorrow, just a basic one as ive already got HD, a few wireless remotes etc from my old Premium console :cool:

from my own perspective, there are no titles on BD that 'justify' the £20 price tag... there are LOADS of films/programs on HD-DVD that are worthy of high def and also being silly ass cheap is a winner too. Not that I like it, but I got all the harry potter films bar the most recent one for about £10 on HD-DVD for the other half lol.

Ive looked everywhere and no where betters that deal.

The Arcades have HDMI output too whereas the old Core systems didnt.

Ad, the 120gb HDD is overkill! It would take about 10 years of constant gaming to fill it! But in effect yes, youll just be paying more for the colour. Same as white LCD TV's, they cost twice as much as an ident black one.

I only got my Elite as my Premium refused to play MW2 & it didnt match the blackness of the TV/Glass shelf/rest of furniture etc.

If you could see it first had you'll notice it better, but the building and the green racing line on the track are very blurred in normal, but in HD come out sharp, no blur what so ever, and also it's not squashed in HD it's running full screen 60hz, see how the cars squashed in the first pics.

Right i bought some more games yesterday, pre owned grid racedriver, assassins creed 1, uncharted 1, not played them yet..

Anyway also bought saw5 on bluray, and unless there is a setting i did not see (have change all i could see in PS menu etc) it does not look that amazing as all the hype about bluray is, so any idea why?

The Blueray spec demands that if any output other than the HDMI is used the device (PS3 in this case) must downsample the picture to stop perfect digital copies being made (the HDMI setup has anti-piracy features).

Yep, bought a new samsung 40" with full 1920x1080pi HD, and PS3 is connected with HDMI cable etc, all setting are correct for viewing it in HD on PS3 (i believe) as i whent through them several times, I'll check again, it's just some of the picture looks grainy (round the edges) although when playing the bluray the TV shows in top corner that it's in 24htz, maybe thats why?

When playing the Call of Duty games on my XBox, when i used to use a scart lead (the big lead with 3 wires coming off it?) you couldnt really see people hiding in the Gillie camo suits, where as now you can actually see them (unless in the desert gillie - that things evilly invisble)

I watched Transformer 2 and the last bond film to test my telly (42" LG) and the quality is fantastic. Have just ordered some bluray dvds tho so i can say more when they turn up. You shouldn't get any grainy ness tho...

Have to say, I think 100% the opposite. Cartoons (oops animations lol) are in pretty much HD the moment they are made and its just compression that alters things a little.

Can tell the difference on real films, but on cartoons I cant see any diff between gyppo SD and HD
