Hi,

I have a stripped 1.4 engine that i want to put back together to put in my car, but the head with the valves and everything in and the camshaft housing with the camshaft still in is really dirty has bits of grit in and needs a good cleaning up. Is it ok to clean the internals with an engine degreaser then just let it dry then bolt it back together, i have heard that diesel works well too, soak it in a bucket of diesel then give it a good brush up.

Cheers

Either of the above, or degreaser. Maybe find an engineer or engine builder witha parts washer. Dish washer perhaps if you live on your own (smells a bit)
