How do you go about it ?

I vaguely remember my Uncle telling me about it for his Mk2 Escort RS 2000

Send some detailed pictures away and a non-biased car club (MG Owners Club done his) and they give the figure they think as to what the car's worth

Can this be done with any insurance company ?

Wouldn't mind getting one for the Mk1 Nova when it's done

For HIC, they ask for receipts to support your valuation and 6 colour photos, from each side and engine bay/interior etc. Costs an extra £10-15 on top of the policy. Never done it, but I imagine you tell them what you think it's worth and they agree/disagree.

Probably be over 21 when the Mk1 Nova is done anyway

Definately something I want to look into

This online form should give you an idea as to what info you need for it:

Is it only that company who does it then ?

Doesn't look too hard to do either - Just need to keep the car well documented until I can do it :)

Flux do it as well but don't know of any others that do. Hence me going with flux even though it wasn't the cheapest quote as it was something I needed.

Also they don't always give you the value you ask for, had to be sensible.

Do you tell them what you think the car is worth ?

Yes and in some cases I have heard they knock you down a bit but they agreed mine with no problems.

My company are looking at offering these again, I'll need to check whether this is something we can offer NOW.

Our process is 4 colour photos, MOT certificate and any supporting evidence you wish to provide. We ask the customer to base their proposed vehicle value on how much the car would sell for, including modifications, in todays selling market to a like minded car enthusiast. The actual agreed value is subject to the underwriters decision.

I am heavily involved in the agreed value process, some people take the pi** with their values, most are sensible about it. Pi** takers will not be entertained!

Dont worry, if there is good news I will be shouting it from the hill tops! The agreed value is an excellent thing to bolt on to the policy and is a great product to be able to offer. We used to be able to offer this to all customers but the service was taken away from us because it was being abused and was taken away for new business customers.

Could you do an agreed value at any age or does it need to be 21> ?

I'd be very interested in agreed valuation on the Nova. Wouldn't know where to start though as there aren't that many saab-powered 3.0 2dr saloons out there for comparison lol

[edit] and we did kinda slap it together by raping other cars for parts and having a keen eye for good one off bargains - the engine cost £650 but came in a Nova; I can imagine if I wanted to buy a replacemebt engine I'd be looking to either buy a scrap 9000 or the engine alone which would probably be a few quids worth. Hrmm.

See to me what the car would sell for means funk all, a cars worth £££ but if no one can afford to buy it then its not worth that in your eyes.

If the cars a one off like most are resale valve is all over the place and you cant look at others to base a price.

When i did mine no one asked what the resale valve is. Cause its no needed. Its what's gone in to it that counts.
