Just wanting to find out what gearboxes you 1.4SR boys have fitted. I've heard that these were fitted with F10CR boxes, but I've also heard that this box is non-existant and that it's a transplanted F13 cluster. Any info would be gratefully recieved. Cheers

Think it would be a f13 transplant chap as the sr box wasnt really close ratio, well mine wasnt in the 1300. I'm now running an f13 with a 4.18:1 diff. :)

Pretty sure there was an F10CR, the F13 was only fitted to 1.6 GTE's?Gsi's & SRi's. Vauxhall boasted about the close ratio box in the SR brochures, but with different final drive ratios, maybe it wasnt a close ratio cluster.

Dont think there was a close ratio F10, the SR's were fitted with an F10WR.

The 1.3SR and 1.4SR both had the f10 box but the ratios were revised for the 1.4SR. I used to own a 1.3sr and i tried both boxes, and the 1.4 box was a noticeably closer ratio. Gears were smooth, slick and quick but the engine would be revving hard at around 100mph and i always felt it needed another gear. So i went for the bigger muscle of a gte lump mated with the f13 box, which felt well suited with a descent close ratio with some top end to ward off vtr's and the like! :). Vauxhall knew what they were doing.

Novasport is right in tha there never was a f10CR, well listed in the techincal docs. That said the CR cluster has shown up in F10 boxes from the factory and I had one that was from a 1.4SR.

You've got nothing to worry about by fitting one in your class 2.

ive a f10cr in the saloon, came from a 1.4sri nova. the original gearbox i had in the saloon was from a 1.4sr and that was f10 wr

the innards are interchangeable between the 2 boxes
