Also try Admiral/Elephant with your parents as second drivers.

Assuming the car is standard, to be honest its different for everyone. Your best bet is to hit a few internet sites and then pick up the phone and ring round, barter the best deal.

it will be modded but nothing big its like alloys and a roll cage removal of seats so just small things oh and the biggest thing is the exhaust. been quoted £1250 for a 1.2 with these mods.

Err.. STOP!

Get your car insured as a standard car, get on the road and get some driving experience under your belt (so to speak)
Then the most i would do it bigger brakes (ATE 2ltr set up) and some subtle vaux 15's, dont put a cage in, this will hike the insurance way up for a new young driver, if not make it un-insurable with some company's.

Just my advise.

TBH wheels, exhaust and a cage aren't bad mods to start with. Cage for safety, wheels to look good and improved grip (assuming decent tyres of course) and the exhaust for.. meh. lol Nothing there really adds power, its not like he's on about XE'ing it before he's even passed his test.

Biggest thing on that list will be the cage, many insurance companies don't like them at all.

Still, £1250 is a good price with those mods, assuming thats in your name etc. Is that with a provisional license or full?
