2 qeustions, one of which i should know the answer too but I dont lol

Firstly, road tax.

There was a link somewhere on the DVLA site about road tax on xxx cc engined cars? 2.6 litre straight six, what tax bracket is that as im blind & cant find it on there :S

Secondly, the car that engine is in, is waaaaaay to long to fit into our garage so we need to extend it back taking out a stud internal wall thus removing our utility room. Any particular permission needed for this kinda thing (house is privatly owned by us)

Im very sure no planning is needed at all IIRC?

EDIT: Found answer to both now :thumb:

Road tax will depend on the age of the vehicle, if its pre march 2001, it'll be £190 a year.

If the change to the garage is only internal then no planning permission would be needed (unless its a listed building, which I would doubt unless you live in a fancy old house)
If it involves external changes then you may need it. Check your local council website for there policy guidance. If you find you do need it, let me know as im an Architectural tech and regularly draw up extensions on the side.

There's normally a limit of the percentage of the footprint of the original house you can extend without full planning, but you will still probably need to register the change and display your intentions to neighbours so they can complain for no reason whatsoever RE my situation at the moment lol

Road tax win then :)

Ahh cool nice one Loggy :) its not listed no, its already got a 20ft x 35ft single storey extension on one side of the building (opposite end to the garage)

Altho, to fit said car in it literally is a case of taking out the internal stud wall in the back of the garage, which my dad has investigated & it was an add on after the house was built (its an open plan house)

Best bet is to speak to the LA.

It may not need any permission at all but they may ask/suggest/request that removal and rebuilding of the wall meet certain requirements.

shouldnt need planning as your only removing an internal stud wall

thats providing the property isnt listed

Looks like my old mans motor will be relegated to driveway soon then :)

lol I looked at my garage today; Nova fits, Celica JUST fits (ran over my sister's bike the other day, oops). Looked at a rather attractively priced Mustang earlier, then realised I'd need to either extend the garage by a couple feet or take everything out.

Orrrr... park the car in the back garden. That could work lol

Similiar problem ive got....

I could empty the garage an it would just fit, but would have no room to work on it :( so thats pretty useless really. Dont know what to do now
