The heating system in my nova seem'ed to blow up. lol

I think its just the fuse havn't had much time to check yet, but i switched it on and there was a large spark from under the steering wheel colum, and now it does not work at all.

yeah sounds like a fuse, check the heater motor spins freely, thats a probable cause of the fuse blowing in the first place.

will do in the morning as its freezing and to much snow on the car at the minute.

I thought this was going to be that the heater matrix had blown up. Had that happen going down the fast lane coming down the M4, not good :(

I replaced the blown fuse today, tried turning heating on and BANG!

It has happened again,

What could be the issue?

Does the blower motor spin freely or is it stuck? Short circuit somewhere?

Would i have to take the dash off to check motor? Also its harder to turn on then it should be if that makes sense.

Open the bonnet and remove the noisy black plastic cowling (next to the battery) to access the blower. Make sure the ignition is off and then see if you can spin the fan with your hand. While you are there check all the connections on the motor aswell.

There's the answer mate, something has either jammed the fan or it's dead. You can try free it maybe something in the way, lube it up and see if that helps but liklyhood is another one needed.

Okay, can i buy straight from vauxhall? or have to be a second hand one,

Also what is the safest lube to use WD40?

I'm sure if you ask on here someone will have one that works, it's not a part that is changed all the time so there must be some spare ones on PNG somewhere.

I've used WD40 on the fan before with no problems, you could try some bearing grease or 3 in 1 oil etc

Ok i will try getting it running tomorrow, If i still have any problems ill try and get hold of another one,

What would i need to ask for?
Blower fan motor?

The bushes at either end dry up, with wd40 it may well get it going again, but as said above once it's working something thicker is needed.

Agree, get some thicker oil or grease in it once its turning, or it will get rough & noisy in no time.

I have a blower motor here from a mk2 Nova btw.

What oil? 3 in 1 seemed a little thin for the job, maybe 3 in 1 for cycles/mowers, it has a bit more body to it. (Green can last time i bought it- bike shop!)
