View Full Version : C.V. Joint Failure - Anyone seen one like this before?

Put two brand new C.V. Joints into my Cavalier SRI a few weeks ago. And one failed on Wednesday night.

I've seen them tear the insides out before, but I was absolutely shocked to see this!

As he says they were brand spankers on Weds I am guessing they were 100% until epic failure.
I'd go with the assumption of cheap Chinese metal lol.

my mate has had quite a few CV's fail on him. Nothing quite as bad though.

Id ask for a refund and then get a better one

:eek: Maybe the CV wasn't fully seated in position seeing as it was on full lock at the time, but more likely el-cheapo metal. Refund FTW

Even my Nova's C.V. failure wasnt as bad, and it's got double the BHP and Torque!

i used to snap the insides out due to extreme lowering, snapped a new one within 1 week. and ive seen them break on the edge of the splines.. but nothing like this lol

Has to be a cheap/badly made joint. Was probably cracked from new or something....

I dont think ive ever seen one go that badly before, must be a manufacturing fault or just cheap crap

I'd agree on the poor material or if it was a re-manufactured item, maybe it had seen some abuse before & was never going to last.
