View Full Version : Had a bit of an argument with a corsa combo

Connor

Due to weather conditions and a car pulling out infront on the corsa combo infront :tard: i managed to lock up at 15mph and knock into the van infront.
Imediantly looking at the van i saw very minimal damage, then turned around and saw  . Gutted tbh, well it has bent but not twisted anything at the front but was dark when happened so couldnt see anything. It still drives perfect and straight(i think) but the radiator has been pushed back and spilt its guts everywhere!!
from what i could see it needs a:
grill
bonnet
both wings
pasenger head light / indicator
front end 'sorting'
Pics will be up 2moz but i was wondering if you lot actually reckon its worth repairing or cutting my losses and selling it to someone else to foober about with it?!
* i know this thread is pointless without pics but i will upload asap 2moz*

glad its repairable mate, could have been a lot worse as our beloved nova's arent all too strong truth be told.

That's what totally happens when a low fronted car hit's another car with a high rear bumper. It looks worse then it is mate.

My bro hit a 2004 Mondeo in his MK3 Cav. Coming up to a roundabout, bro was 3rd person in the line, old geeza in the front hesitated and slammed the brakes, bro noticed but the unlit road and wet surface didn't help (and the ABS light coming on as he slammed the brakes lol) it was only a sub 20mph bump but the rear of the Mondeo being much higher gave pretty much the same damage as your Nova, except his rad was perfectly fine.

£150 quid in parts and a mates rate £80 spray and it was easily sorted. Glad it was only minor damage mate could have been a lot worse would have been sad to lose a nice GSi.

The most expensive part of that fix is the GSi bumper.

That looks a lot worse than it is IMO. Thats assuming the inner arches are straight at the front...

i would say thats well bad, the whole top part of the member is facing down, major creasing in the wing. and yeh the gsi bumper is fooked.

AlexW

^Youve never seen a crashed nova then. The slam panels usualy bend down.

Wing will be nothing, inner wing might be bent slighty but its nothing.

Connor
19-12-09, 06:06 PM
its not actually that bent, it just looks worse as my car is low and the van i hit is high lol.
Well hopefully i can get rid of it soon as it makes me sad everytime i look outside

Nova_Tek

That wing can be pulled out easy and used no problem, slam panel is the worst bit which is just a replace jobbie. The worst thing there is the bumper. Will try find a pic of my bro's Cav and you can see the damage there.

Could fix that for sub £300

Ive got the upper slam pannel, and the headlight pannels, only £26!

Also, whats the **** about tit air filter?

Ya should have seen my first nova killing experience!

Roof caved in on impact, and then the passenger side sill collapsed on putting it on the flatbed recovery truck, what a mess. brokeded my heart :(:(

One thing is that being a student i cant make £300 appear as have no income atm, plus i had payed the bloke my last £130 in the crash
Another factor is that i have no where to put it (no drive etc)
And i have to go back to uni on the 9th so i gotta get rid fast.

And that filter is a pipercross, as when i fitted the 1.3 it didnt
come with an airbox, and at my bros garage, we were trying to find an
air filter to 'fit' but we found one that was actually for it

Similar to your accident; sub 20mph bump. You can see the slam pannel has bent downward, the strip below the grill is gone, bonnet bent, slight damage to the wing, the rad was almost touching the manifold, airbox was jammed up against the suspension turret and the bumper iron bent.

New bumper iron + bonnet + strip below grille + headlamp glass and seal (as we had a spare headlamp unit) + slam panel + wing (although the panel beater said no need for the wing and fixed the GM one which means spare wing :) ) + those panels painted = £220

If you don't have the cash now matey do it gradually should be able to sort it within a couple months. Like Sparkie said, you may very well regret selling it, especially if you see someone else driving it after it's been fixed.

Sorted.

yes its just that i have no way of storing it!
And sparkie guin is goin to have to travel down to essex as thats where i am at the moment, i think the biggest issue is that because i am at uni in derby so i cant pop down from derby to essex to fix it, it wont get touched till june and where am i goin to store it till june!! IMO if it was a genuine gsi then yea i would be making the effort to store it but it is an average merit shell with a gsi kit and a cheap respray! If i were to do it all again it would be with a genune shell, something actually worth keeping!
