View Full Version : g'day!!!
evening fellas!
ive seen a few peeps over the last however long say about old skool ford tax and the like, and how much escort 1+2 prices are an indication of future nova values. so, intrigued, i did a wee bit of digging over seas, and turned up these tidy wee weapons..
2.0 pinto, all the hard bits done, and has met reserve, shame its a 12 door:

4dr rs2000, looks lovely, but the aussie rs' have a few differences, i.e steel sump, and different trim:

one for limp and all you jap fetishists:

and one for mike:

now, the thing to remember here is this; half the price you see in aus dollars to get the uk price.
starts making sense? also most if not all are dry area cars, so no rot or major welding to do. :thumb: and to ship ro-ro from melbourne to southampton is £800......

Looks like a few nice cars there, cheap as well. However I still don't have any money... shame I like the look of that escort even if its a more door....

but did you look how much stuff like calibras are going for in auz jesus there expensive last time i looked
Conversion isn't quite half, but its close enough.
Are you sure about the shipping cost? I seem to recall Mike thinking it was £800 but then figured out there was a few more hidden costs which saw the price somewhere around double that

theres all the re registering costs and inport taxes im sure ontop of the 800 caridge fee
Vat, and a few other things. I got quoted 876 to ship my cav out there. He you use a container it does double. Cali's are pricey as they didn't get many. The funny thing is they got the vec b as std with the v6. Jack, look up holden torana a9x's ;)

i dont think its just as simple as taking them over an registering them, i think the dvla or whoever do have a few extra things to look at first, the shipping seems very cheap, should it not be near double that,
imo it wuld only be worth doing it if the car was a real minter and a good spec, and defenitly not a 4 door
links to shipping for £800 please need to find a decent quote.
........
Sod ro-ro. Get a container if you value your car/it's posessions.
I used to drive for a ro-ro company. lol
ro-ro.
Is that like a Japanese version of a yo-yo?

Shortly aftewards my sat nav DVD empire went under too. Wonder why. lol
I had a temporay job on portbury docks shifting cars on and off, got called in the office one day and said sorry work has dried up so need to let you go, my mates told me the next day they took 2 more guys on but did comment that the manufacturer had started to fit stereos into brand new cars as before it was just a myth.
lol. Good man! I had an eBay shop. Keys n DVDs. I cleaned up lol. Not to mention gearknobs, turbo timers, the occasional HU. It was hillarious when I was there as they were detirmined to track the person down that was acquiring about 30 sat nav discs per shift and selling them under their noses on eBay for like £80 a pop.
So much so that they bought one and said when it arrives we will get the b@stards address. Ah, not when said person is registered to 123 Fake St in Liverpool you won't lads. Mega LOLZ at the time.
Bet you made a few quid then Ben? lol
