Hi there, i've just built a C16SE engine to go in my corsa. Its running high compression oversized JE Forged pistons and has been bored out 1678cc.

Now here's where my question is...

I've been told with forged pistons there needs to be a bit of play in the cylinder as the piston expands quite a bit when hot. Can anyone confirm if thats correct or not as the engine seems to be a bit tappy when turned on and left running for a while, after about 15 mins the noise slowly goes away.

As anyone else had these noise/problems?

Any help would be much apprecaited.

Cheers
Nick

Phone JE and ask them.

The correct build tolerances would be obtained from the piston manufacturer, but the symptoms you describe sound about right for usual forged piston equipped engines I've heard.

Any pics or more info on the said engine/car??
