View Full Version : how much more?
right ive just blown my 1l up so i got that out today.
Im just wandering roughly as my insurance company are closed today, how much more a 1.6 will be to insure from my 1l?
I pay 1700 for the 1l atm so my guess would be about 2500 for the 1.6?
Does that sound about right?
they would probably say No, or it would be silly money
hmm hopefully not tbh i need to get bk on the road and had the engine laying around so its half in atm

any engine will do but you quite far, i just happened to have a e16se so hopefully i get it running and can insure it

oh dear.....not going to be easy then. id sit tight and source another 1L untill you convictions are spent, unless you have pockets of money to insure a 1600:thumb:
well im getting a credit card so im guessing im going to spunk the extra cash to insure it as a 1.6.
the last 1l i seen on flebay was 175 by it now with 80 pallet courier.
am i funk paying that for an engine

It's not miles. Only if you expect an engine to come to you.
No offence but I see it as a no-brainer to be adding £1000's to your insurance premium & even considering putting it on a credit card! Nutts.
well i would need the engine delivered as ive got no form of transport.
Im going to phone up and see what the insurance is like i think

A 1.6, and your paying £1700 now as a 1.0, expect £4500++++
well for me to insure a gsi it was only 3100
GSi is standard though. I reckon 3500-4000.

Wow ! How much ??? How old are you Gsi Jimbo ? or have you done something crazy in a car before ? That is absolutley mega money for a 1.0 !!! I wouldnt even be prepared to pay that let alone more.
Joe, I will come and get the engine from craig and deliver to you if needs be mate
if you cover my fuel and buy me a maccy's :)
or just fit the e16 :)
well for me to insure a gsi it was only 3100
Thats as a standard GSi I assume. In that case, forget the engine conversion, if you pay 4 figures for a 1.0 then a 1.6 will be a no go. Might be worth ringing Sky and HIC, see what they can do but only if you're over 19.
Bear in mind, even a replacement 1.0 should be declared to insurance and that may well affect your policy premium.
As for the credit, thats insane. Even if you COULD insure it with a 1.6, putting the nigh on £5k on credit is the worst idea possible - not only will you have very little to show for your massive debt, you'll be forced to pay a similar fee in 12 months - after about 3 years you'd be facing a good 10k worth of debt on a car which is valued at little more than £1k best. Surely it makes better financial sense to put a £100 van rental to go get Craig & Edd's engine on a credit card instead? Which you could pay off in a month or so?
after the insurance company im with wont insure me im sticking with the trusty 1l
spoken to edd and should be going up and getting it out. Just wait and see when shaun can take me up there.
just got to speak to the missus mate

Ive learnt my lesson now and am going to do every thing legit so a 1l is going back in until i can declare everything and get insured
