being serious how does the nova compare to the evo? my mate has one its around 300bhp but must weigh a load! I think id keep with him for abit but will see . . . i asked him to race me up the 1/4mile but he reckons its 1k for a new clucth and 5-6 launches and its all over!

Ive never owned one, but had a blast about in a GSR 6, an TBH id have one any fecking day.

The lad that owned it tried mega hard for the first few days to get it to break traction on a notorious roundabout where i live an it simply wouldnt do it. Such a nice car to drive, an insane in gear acceleration compared to anything short of the rally cars ive been in. Comfy as fook, plenty of room inside them & just mega fuel hungry is the only downside i could see.

I know for a fact the clio would stick with the evo at 0.5 bar according to the defis and a fool who cant drive it as he only picked it up a few hours before :D

The clio would wipe the **** off a nova upto a certain speed, then the gearing in the nova would take advantage... this is an aged debate that you can in fact go from somthing like a 106 1300 rallye and end up being close to performance wise a lambo. lol there was a post somewhere i read about a massive list of cars which were close in regards of speed etc.

I had Nial in his corsa xe and a gold vr6 have a bit of a play, again i was running .5bar as the boost controller was playing up. i told him this and i gets a "rexy you got owned by a corsa you girl" on face book :S so yeah a corsa xe will dick an evo ;)

The said VR6 and corsa then promptly got battered by said clio 172 so there we go a 172 is again faster than a vr6, corsa xe and an evo 5.

Do you see where im going with this.?

Since owning the scooby ive calmed down ****loads, yes i will have a spirited drive On my own but i always opt out when street racing as it were. Fed up of watching near misses and people with absolute disrgard for other peoples safety and wellbeing. As above nearly ended in tears with the Vr6 cutting somebody up while i sat back and watched three cars going for gold.

Off on a tangent here :D

If you put a nova xe upto an evo, the evo will kill it all day when launched correclty... you then have to look at power:weight and in gear acc, driver error, driver mechanical sympathy and how far that person is willing to push his her car.

In the past ive chased a lambo in an xe nova the reason... i didnt give a flying fook if i killed the car the lambo would of been in 4th maybe 5th and floored it i was in 2nd maybe 3rd, ive battered a civic vti in a 1300 nova sr, ive battered a celica GT4 in my xsara vts.

Power:weight plays the biggest role in any car, i know of a certain dirty dezil that would stick to a nova xe on twistys due to 320lbf of torque. I also know of novas which will provoke and pass an evo, rarri etc at coombe.

At the end of all this power:weight is the key to everything... Hence why the evo is being stripped and having lightweight stuff fitted :P

Like i said on sunday Gaz, not a chance.

I know people will disagree, i had a C20let Nova, that was quick. That was 245 bhp.

Now i have a $hit slow Xe Corsa ( slow compared th the Nova anyway). It's 80-90 bhp down.

A normally aspirated 2.0 16v 150bhp V Turbo charged 2.0 16v 260 + bhp 4WD Evo.

Even if the Evo is being driven by a girl ( Rexy)

I know where my money is going if were betting. :)

Evo's are in a differnt league,my dad has a mate who owns a evo 8 FQ340,and he taken me round oulton park,donnington park,and at the nurburgring in it,and he is a serious driver,**** me are evo's quick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he does the evo sprint track days with the MLR in his that's why he got a proper clutch in it :)
