check your wireless connection is switched on (there should be a switch on the outer of the base or one of the function keys on the keyboard)

failing that, do u have a wireless router?
and is the wireless function on the router enabled??

router is your broadband modem btw

it says windows can not configure this wireless connection.
If you have enabled another program to manage the wireless connection, use that software

If you want Windows to configure this wireless connection, start thw wireless zero configuration (WZC) service, see article 871122 in the microsoft knowledge base.

on the left hand side it says : Refresh network list
Set up wireless network for a home or small office (tryed these but cant make it go on )

Go into your wireless settings/network on the laptop and search for available wireless connections

Is it an Orange Livebox?

Balley

Ok, you need to enable pairing on the livebox. I had the same problem with my dads, as the stoopid thing refuses everything by default

Lemme find a link that explains it, give me a mo.

^ thats a step by step guide to get WinXP SP2/3 connected to Livebox 1.1 - give that a try. The important bit is to enable Pairing on the livebox before you search for a wireless connection (step 2, where you press button 1)

Thanks for that, very helpfull, but When i get to Wireless network connection it will not pick up the live box, when you press button 1 do you have to hold it in???

Jack

No, you should only have to press it once. Hmm, have you checked the security settings for the wifi on the livebox? I'm assuming you have a computer connected via a cable to it so you can access all the config gubbins..?

Balley

How do I do that, yes we have a PC connected up

Jack

Ok, does the wired PC have all the Orange stuff installed on it? There should be an icon (on the desktop or somewhere under the Start menu) for "Livebox Configuration" or something of that ilk.

You'll need to know the username and password to log in though, so make sure you can either find it or have it to hand.

If you can hold til tomorrow, I'll have a look at my dad's configuration as he uses a Livebox.

On the wired PC, click on this link (or type into a web browser):

Should take you to the online livebox config page :thumb:
