tbf, that bronzy look to the engine is a coating that many unmolestered gsi's seem to have, but degreser can shift it.

I think it looks kinda cool in a weird way - more original.

Believe it or not it's waxoil, they just randomly blasted it all over the bay on nova's! lol mine was like it, and i would not be so un-sure of that mileage, as my mk1 was/is filthy in the bay, most if it is just dry dust that's sat for decades.

Here's my old silk bay with waxoil (and rust) etc.

Its more than likely late eighties/early nineties engine laquer, we used to use similar stuff when i was valeting for a local car supermarket, sets pretty solid and goes a browny colour like that, after years it will dry and flake off in places leaving the engine looking like that!

Yeah it is an engine laquer. My GSi had it all over the inner wings, loom & rocker cover. It scratched off with a blunt edge, but is a pain & looks rank. I fail to see what purpose it served either, other than making Vauxhall engine bays look manky.

£4k on that GSi is too much IMO.

Looks like it's been bumped on the front. Bottom of grille and bumper seem to be pushed in?
