how yas, in new here, i bought an 85' corsa a yesterday its a 1.0 but was wondering are the 1300 engines the same in the nova sr as the 1300 in a kadett d/e(mk1/2 astra to yous). There is probly minor differences between them eg the heads is this true, just wonderin as i hope to stick 1300 in her with a high lift cam and a pair of 40's and a f13cr. Would the astras mounts line up with the novas ect...what involved. im not an expert with novas im more used to the rwd opels/vauxs, but i no the basics.

Thanks lads

hi mate welcome along, you will need a drivers engine mount, use your nova gearbox mounts (not sure if there the same as astra 1's but if you have them already its no worries) I dont think there is alot of difference in the engines maybe a different carb setup? As for shafts use your 1.0 1's id get a brake upgrade while your at it. Then you will need a 1300 exhaust manifold and possibly full exhaust upto the middle box as the 1.0 one wont fit or the astra 1 for that matter. Erm fuel pump is mechanical but you will need 1300 coil dizzy etc etc.

You might need to replace the wire that powers the coil aswell. 1.0 novas have a resistor in that wire to reduce the voltage to the coil.

Hi-If you can find a 1.2 nova/corsa a the mounts should be the same as a 1300.If you have an engine you're sorted but you'll be lucky to find many 1.3s here(I'm in westmeath)-no problem getting 1.4s from astras. If you do find/have a kadett engine, keep the distributor wiring and coil etc You'll need it with the carbs.

also you will need a fuel ruturn pipe, as 1l doesnt have one. either change the tank or modify it.

iv been search through the old threads and there is no end to the information so it got me thinking ,could i use a 1.2 head with 1.3 bottom end without piston mods or would the cr be too low/high. what about 1.2 head, 1.3 bottom end, 285 cam, 1.6 valves, p&p and gas flowed snorting through a pair a t40s?? would it work, would it be reliable, what kind of power are we talkin(120/130bhp would be nice or am i dreaming?)

are the 1.6 8v cavalier engines the same as the gte/gsi engine or maybe just the block, if even just kinda brainstorming for ideas.

Thanks lads.

At least some of the 1.6 8v cav engines are big block carbed engines.
