Can a 1.2 nova outhandle a 1.6.. not out perform ( cause we know that wont happen! )

but being as the lump is lighter, would this be feaseable?

didnt think there was so much diffrence with weight of the two engines is there?

i doubt it. 55 vs 100 bhp. And gsi is only bout 100kg heavier.

Negligable weight difference in the two engines, the 1.6 will out handle any 1.3 due to more power!

wtf has power got to do with handling

lighter car setup exactly the same *should* out handle the heavier car

the GSI's suspension is better (lower) than a 1.2's by default. That would give it better handling. Then it has wider wheels. That would also give it xtra.

im not talking about standard.. i mean if their both lowered 40mm and have alloys wiv fat tyres.

LMAO! There is LOADS of standard Gte/Gsi's around! They also have anti-roll bars too which a 1.2 won't have!

Y ask the question if they both moded the same? The 1.2 will be in the dust off to a GTE/Gsi! Even if it was a 50 lap race round a tight roundabout!

I was under the impression that all Cars had anti-roll bars, let alone all Novas.

Maybe I'm wrong

my 1.2 has an anti roll bar..

I know that some of the early merits don't have anti roll bars...and I think that there is a guide to fitting them on either this site or migweb, so there must be some without them out there ?!!

I would like to clarify, is the question about handling, as in how does the car respond to driver input, or roadholding?
if you fitted the same suspension & wheels to both a gte and a bog standard 1.2, the gte would be faster due to the power, it would probably feel nicer because the extra weight would help smooth out the bumps, but the 1.2 would be a lot more agile because most of the extra weight in a gte is high up (sunroof, trim etc.), thus raising the centre of gravity....
overall cornering speed is dictated by the tyres and springs, so it would be a close thing......

basicly all things considered... can a 1.2 be better handling than a 1.6?

if money were no object on both..

this question is getting out of control. If you modded the 1.2 so it had better kit than the gsi it wouldn't be a fair test. You know your biology coursework and fair tests and so on. lol. There really isn't an answer to yuor question. ? :?:

grrr lol

ok then...

only suspention changes.. both have.. umm lets say koni coilover shock+springs

whick would corner better ( both have std nova alloys wiv *insert fave tyre make here* )

Only 1.3sr's and above were fitted with them! Not ALL cars have or need them! No car NEEDS them! SOme 1.2 ltd editions had them!

Even mk2 1.2's dont have them in general!

the 1600s had the thicker gauge engine bay metal and strut top reinforcers anyway

for the record the build manual says that original 1600 shells are prefered for group a spec, although there is no reason a properly prepped 1200 wont do the same job

i assume the 1600 would be slightly tauter for this reason

real 'on the road' performance, even if the 1200 handled even a reasonable amount 'better' you would still have a job being as the 1600 isnt far off packing 100% more power

Theres hardly any difference in a 1200 and 1600 lump weight wise!

trust, ive had to fukin lift both!!!!
