right i know that mk3 astras are gay and you have to de-build the strut and take the hub off with it ect. but how does the 'suspension' fit into the strut?
am i right in thinking there will be a big locking nut at the bottom of the stansion?

repage given.

thanks

there is a big locknut on top of the strut tube.

if you strip the top nut off with the wheel on the ground, then jack it up, you can take the strut top off, then the spring, then undo the locknut & you can pull the old damper out thru the hole in the front turret.

so there is a lockin nut holdeing the damper, leval with the bottom spring seat/cup. also do you know if its really tight - need a vice ect. or will be okay just to hold and undo?

It will be funking tight. Holding it in the vice and turning thge whole leg is how i always do it. You can use stilsons but they'll need a 36"+ head.
