right come feb i will have had myy 55 plate astra for 2.5 years. now the finance is killing us. we bought the car in a rush (:roll:i know) but our son decided to come 2 months early. i would like to hand the car back in feb and cut my losses. The car gets used for work and occasionaly at weekends going places. I want a cav turbo or astra GSI. now i know some will say that these will cost me lots to maintain but with all the parts i have it wouldnt be a problem. looking to spend around £3k, i realise this will be at the lower end of the cav turbo quality but the higher end of the astra quality.

what would you do

I'd get a saloon vectra gsi or the hatch is a little more practical, kids and an astra hatch? To much hassle.

not so much of a hassle now hes that wee bit bigger. he doesnt like the buggy so walks all the time, therefor no need for buggy space.

tbh if the costs that are killing you try to buy something 5-6 years old rather than 15+

I think he's like me - it's not the costs really, it's just being stuck with a car for 5 years!! He likes to change them regularly and with buying the Cav or Astra he can sell or swap when he wants.

And I'd go for the Astra GSI

Its states in the first post he wants to change due to cost? and if i had children i would not be taking them round in an old POS cav or astra, rather use the money to buy something as new and safe as possible over an older model car.:)

note my suggestion was a MK4 which is plenty tough enough for a small persons carridge :d

Only one thing i can say that crap about VW's, electric window's.

But i would happily keep a VAG or BMW as a daily car, been looking at the BMW's if/when i come to change from the Passat.

But for practicality/money dont get an old Cav, im sorry i have never ratted them no matter what engine is in them.. Mk3 Astra GSi's i do like, but would not wish to own no more.
