I would love to do Oulton park, particularly at that price, but I do fear it will be so busy and overbooked at that price.
But, I just done Bedford today and their is a good chance I will be unemployed after the new year.

Nah, i did have my heart set on a Escos, but then thought **** it ill buy one aswell, then found out SKY wont insure cosworth's, and with my NBC being with SKY i have no hope of getting one insured elsewhere, so its gone on hold... lol

My brothers friends did a track day there not so long ago which was on a wednesday and it wasn't over crowded then but then again that was on a wednesday not sure what it will be like on a saturday, might come down an watch as im only 10 - 15 mins down the road from the track :)

give the brakes a little nip up. fit my strengthened lower arms on. look at finally getting my eccentric top mounts fitted.

lol umm Driving license eh!... I have got to get them to ring DVLA on the day as mine is still with the DVLA getting re-newed,(got the letter to send it off on 17th Jan) i sent it off on 20th of Jan, spoke to some one at the track and they said they get lots of people who forget there license so you can get it checked on the day as long as it's not a Sunday, more faf i know, but life is like that..

Was a good day today, weather was strange as fook, kept going mega foggy and then lifting within the space of 5minutes.
Well happy with how mine went, apart from ive destroyed the front brakes. The pedal goes half down until the brakes "bite" and discs feel "ribbed" lol
Had a few "moments" at times under heavy braking when i thought the rear end was trying to overtake the front, but spot on apart from that lol
Oh and Pauls nova turbo needs to be caged, its a fcuking animal!!!!!!!!!!! :cool:

Just watched my vid. I only get passed by the Evo's, a Caterham, the 2 Renault Sports and the loud as fcuk Escort lol. Not bad at all.
I still recon its the springs Scott, or the tyres.
The rear end of mine only stepped out once when i carried too much speed into the chicane.

shame about the fog today.
Thought 'Oulton Parks' organisation wasn't the best, Massively overbooked, at 1 point it was 1 car off, 1 on. Very poor imo.
Apart from that i enjoyed what track time we had, it was a bit slippy in the morning :eek:, but as soon as a dry'ish' line started to appear i put the r888's on and the nova was flying.
Nice to catch up with a few faces too :thumb:

was a good day in the end. just a shame the weather played the major winner in the end.
my car felt rather twitchy in the morning, but with 46psi in the tires. no suprises really then.
Time out in the morning was just hampered by people constintly spinning off and blowing engines. managed to go out three times and each time it was red flagged.
after lunch, let some air out ans the car started to slide back end, so needed to set them a little softer. but prior to coming in and changing the set up again. The car started to perform and was having a great laugh.
took my time with the car and just moved over to let people pass and just get the feel of the car. but once i started gaining confidence in the car, caught a lotus and a capri. but i did mainly set off when there were nice big gaps.
overall,
loved it, highly recomend it.
Yeah it was Boffers, fcuking thing was flying. Think he said it had a 200+ bhp XE in it.

I have hurd Oulton is like that, bit of a let down considering some tracks do it so well and some don't but for no real reason

saw nathan go past me (my car as i was in passenger seat) but never got to see you to say hello. i came over just as you pulled off to leave.

Yep, nice to meet you to pal, yep that was me, wasnt so keen overtaking on a bend with it being a little damp so thought id wait til the straights, it grips a bit better then! lol it moves everywhere though so you just have to pick the points to be on full throttle, so nice to drive though, you can fell everything it does, lovely bit of kit!

I've just got back from the NW Blackpool stages rally where I've been chase car navigating for 16xe_Chris's Nova today otherwise i'd have tried to come along to this today.

It was a strange slide, back end whent right/left/right again sort of snaked..
The one i did on the other outing was way more cool, wish i got it on film lol
I think the resent snow and faffing with the hand brake in the passat has helped! lol

Looks like all you guys had a good time.
Shame about the amount of people there and having to wait to go on track, a problem I did suspect having with such a cheap day.
Wish I could have been there tho, looks like a fun track, esp using the longer Island? layout.

Analysis after seeing your vids Ad is my tires were A, too new, B, too ****, so need to invest in some better ones, and get the suspension set good, along with new exhaust system.
Only at one point did the back end step out, it felt great all the other time apart from under very heavy braking when the rear end goes light as hell.
Im hoping dropping the rear height right down will help stop this.

AFAIK the only difference between mine and scott's is his rear end suspension was much stiffer, and i think he had his crap tyres on the back.
Hard suspension and a damp track is never going to be great.

Mines got lowered tie bars, i get no dive under braking, but as Ad say's i had mine set poor, re-adjusted it and in came the fog end of the day lol
Mine dives big time under braking!!!
dropping the height might make it a little better under braking for you, but to try and change the rear end under braking without effecting it under roll so much you can try some lower tie bar mounts, it will effectively make the front end a tad stiffer which is pronounced under braking more than in bump, and you might find it a bit 'skippy' if you tend to turn in while still on the brakes fairly heavily, but it may make the weight transfer and therefore the rear end characteristics a little more manageable. Probably worth trying it with some spacer blocks or something for one session to see if you like it or not, just make sure it's reasonably sturdy as ideally something fairly hefty and welded up is used, most of your braking force is going through the rear TCA rather than the tie rod though, that's why they're a big shaped bit of metal and the tie rod is just a rod.
edit: or since scott posted that, bagsie a car swap or something and nail his brakes a bit lol

See when we went round combe it was front under steer issues i had, so it was on the rear this time due to bad tires and too stiff shocks i think..

To be fair you had some sort of recycled condoms wrapped round the rims when we went round combe, and since they're transmitting around, 180-190bhp is it? I'm not surprised it understeered lol
edit: although I was actually quite impressed with the way it handled on the diff and couldn't believe there was recycled condoms wrapped on the rims lol

i've decided, after watching the vids and watching from the sidelines yesterday, the next one up here thats a half decent price (and if the nova is sorted in time) i'll be dragging the wee beastie on track :)
