will it fit mk1 and mk2 the same?

Depends what exhaust - Mk2's usually point out straight and Mk1 to the side

Vaughan is correct. I've a mk1 GTE ashly system on my mk2 and it comes out at a slight angle however it looks fine because most mk2's do not have a noticeable exhaust cut out in the bumper so the exhaust can exit at any place really within reason. However mk1 rear bumpers have an abvious cut out for the exhaust, and a mk2 exhaust will miss the cut out.

So (in my personal experience), mk1 exhaust will be ok on mk2, but mk2 exhaust wont look 100% on mk1.

but as long as the fumes get out who cares lol
