hi as some of you no my x16xel decided to attack its self so im now left with a scrap engine.
but i have got chance of a x18xe1 but this engine has no engine loom or ecu. how different are these engines?
think i could fit the lower inlet manifold from my x16xel onto this and will the 4-2-1 exhaust manifold fit?

what about engine loom would this olso fit? because i am strugging to find a loom for it

very different is the answer, the x18xe1 was a lot later than the x16 xel.

Not saying its not p[ossible as never tried it so dont know but i would say its a lot of time and hassle even trying.

hmm. wong woom mista.

in answer to your question; im not sure but i think no. both ecu and looms will be slightly different.

i can see it been a pain in the **** lol
but to be honest i got a bet with my mate that my nova SMALL BLOCK (he got my old c20xe engine) wont be back on the road by easter lol

see i got a redtop engine in my shed but got to stay small block as i said small block FTW just want it to run until weather cheers up a little so can get my vectra (family wagon) sorted :)


edit

then can mess around with engine aftermarket ecu, bodies cams :)

X18XE1 are virtually identical on the bottom end but it has a longer stroke. The head is very different though and is supposed to be an excellent design. Get the X18XE1 and drop some carbs or throttle bodies on its;)

my mate has a full x18xe1 engine complete with loom,ecu and key chips.

xe1 isnt that the smallblock 1800?

there are a few guys who run an c16xe and 18xe1 combination, with nice results.

exhaust manifold can be made to fit by enlarger the holes on the bottom of the manifold

the lower inlet wont fit, the studs are very different and the ports are much bigger on the 18xe1

loom/ecu wont matter if you carbs/bodies as you'll need standalone stuff

if its to much hassle ill take the engine off your hands as a spare for mine tho lol ;)
