linkage set up on f20

hey all i was wondering what the best way it to set up the gear linkange to get gears again ive just fitted an xe with f20 ive flipped the plastic thingy bob round so it was hitting the rack but i tried to set it up the way you would by locking it at the box and holding the gearstick by the wee notch as you would when it is all standard but it isnt lining up right. just wondering if somebody else has came across this when doing theres

put the drill bit in, turn linkage till it pos in, the gear lever has to be held over to the pass side, and you still have problems?

Logic and some trial an error.
If you cant get 5th then it needs to me moved to one side, if you cant get reverse then it needs to go other way! Schimples

gearbox in neutral before? pinchbolt loose?

moved it so i could lock it with a small punch and held gear stick over to the mark but wasnt right then i just done it manualy but its still out could it possibly a worn linkage?

dont think so bud as i just bought this one a couple of weeks ago but i might take it back of and check it for wear and tear if i need il get back to you matey :thumb:

Why would he need a new linkage?

Are you using the standard linkage? if your using a standard one, it should go fine, WHAT GEARS ARN'T YOU GETTING?

either not getting fifth or reverse mate yeah just the standard linkage on the f20 box i flipped the white plastic bit round the other way so it didnt hit the rack but cant see that affecting it tho

was the car a 4 speed before?

was a four speed then an sr engine fitted with 5 speed box mate and all was working fine apart from when i lost the linkage and fitted replacement lol when fitting the xe and f20 box

can you get fith if you push the gearstick down the same as reverse?

if you can, make it so you can get reverse, then cut the white plastic thats on the drivers side of the gearstick

im having problems with mine still, its still hitting the steering rack, i went 2 flip the "white plastic thing" and found i didnt have one. any help? sorry for the hijack btw
