Because no bodykit ever suited a Nova. There is snobbery surrounding the subject but lets face it, what kitted Nova actually looks good for a kingdom kit, badly specced sundries, shocking metal falke paint & nasty 18'' chromes???

They are simple, small cars from a retro era that really dont perform better when wearing a tonne of fibreglass & overly large wheels.

That is anti-tuning & really not what fast cars & modifying is about. Sure it was what modifying became. I think most people would agree that it is a reputation that hardcore Nova enthusiasts have been striving to shake off.

Anyone want to build their project using this kit?

Yet another Nova hiding behind some fibreglass.

yeah i sort off see what your saying but isnt it up to whoever owns the car to do what thay like to it and not to try and please other people, i cant see why they should get slated for it at the end of the day its up to them and just because they have a body kit dosnt mean that they like novas any less than the next person whos got theres standard

Bodykits are the route of all evil. The only one that sort of suited one was the magnum kit IMO.

I feel the Nova has gone full circle now and I'm glad the days of rediculous kits have been and gone, now we can concentrate on making them look original/standard. More people also enjoy seeing clean tidy novas anyway, I've had many a comment by people saying "wow, not seen a nova for ages I had one of them", at least they recognised it rather than having a load of fibreglass cover all the goodness and character oh and also let all the water get trapped in and make the poor things rot three times as much, and they slow you down.

Tip: don't rant on iPhones, it takes ages to type lol

the young lad just has an old skool way of thinking: saying 'modded novas' is a nova with a bodykit on, and i guess any nova without a bodykit isnt finished yet...?
Ive not met a bloke like that in years lol
'Modded novas' is any nova with some of its parts changed and uprated, even just minor suspension/engine or indeed syling tweeked.
These bodykits was a trend, as said but now just like everyone else the scene has been moved on. Pickup a copy of any of those old car mags (max power, redline) see how its all changed.
Dubber's to thank for it...?

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and as it's a public forum people put there opinions up. Most peoples opinions on kitted Novas are the same so people get slated.

As always it comes down to if people don't want honest opinions on their car then don't put pictures of it up. If they do they can't always expect to get positive comments.

lol - I'm reading this thread and thinking about the "puntova" hiding in my garage - lol

BTH I agree with everyone here - Novas have gone full circle and I agree that a "standard" Nova looks much better than a body kitted one simply because of its age...its kind of outgrown its teenage years and is heading for pipe and smoking jacket (lets face it theres several of us who wear these items and drive a Nova!)

At this years shows I saw only 1 Novadosed Nova (and it looked pretty good) - a few wide arch (stanbdard) kitted ones (Dans for example) and that was it - everything else was big engine conversions.

However a proper kitted Nova does look good - I think body kits are an age thing - I look at some of the Jap based cars all kitted out and think theyre gash...

Whatever floats your boat I guess...

And if you want rto see my project click the links in my sig...all custom made...although I've not updated it for ages!

Criag nailed it. The problem is when kits do not suit the lines of the car they are intended for.
They never looked good. A rounded bumper on an angular car will always look crap. Thank god you never see them anymore.

I can honestly say I have never ever seen a cool kitted up Nova. A few other cars used to suit the look though, Dimma Pugs/Clio's R5's etc Skeete's R5 kit, mk3/4 Escort Illusion lol

Never a Nova though! lol

Lookin' good

TBH, i think think another reason kitted Nova have died out is that they are so old now that young lads can't afford to repair them and then buy bodykits/fitting/paint etc..

I love the way the white one above has to be left at standard ride height so the kit doesn't touch the floor lol lol lol

The top one is my favourite lol
Surely that's an OEM kit? The lines just flow from body to bumpers/skirts so seamlessly.

Delta FTW. Always reminded me (from the rear) as if this bloke picked it up

People don't like them cause they all look sh*te. We're trying to help you and save you from spending all this money on a kit when wont fit or look right on the car.. And you'll be laughed at.

I can always appreciate the hard work that goes into fitting these things no matter how out of place they may look. Knuckles (sp) wide arched, kitted, bagged mk2 on here was a prime example. You could tell the guy had put many hundreds of hours into making all of that fit. Same for the one with the 14a lights, RC's orangey mk2 etc.

As we know though, it's not the case with most. lol

tbh the UK style is really weird (opinion!). everything has to be huge, i mean, look at those bumpers. there is no company overhere who does those.. and there's not a person to find who fits them lol

only thing we had overhere was the dietrich rs front bumper.

the nova never has been a popular car overhere for the youth, so that might be the reason.. cause there used to be loads of crap mk2 golfs lol

Just because it is different, doesnt mean it is good. IMO bodykitted Novas are a no no. The Novadose kit is probably the only kit that looks ok. Ish lol. As has been said, bodykits rarely fiit properly and they dont suit the lines. If people spend the time to get it looking and fitting properly then fair enough.

BUT...this never happens. Some numpty watched F+F and wants a jap style Nova lol FAIL.

I have no problems with any car with a bodykit on aslong as the job has been done well and to a high standard with a lot of thought put into the whole styling of the car.

most will agree with that but maybe not everyone prefers speed over looks? not to mention affording insurance to afford a faster car.

agreed, still better off without though imo. i think subtle looking bodykits are ok with more of a smooth look but some/most kits are just sh*t unless done right like L33 LEG has said. modifying has moved on since the bodykit phase, and its defo a good thing that it has

I think that body kits are for people who want to stand out and be different, which is all well and good when a car is only a few years old and there are loads of them on the road, when I was younger there was eight of us, out of my mates, who had Novas, that's why I ended up getting a saloon, to try to be different. These days there are not loads of novas and people have started to like the factory looks again because that's how they remember the cars looking, when they were younger and the car was more popular, these days you don't need a body kit to stand out as driving a Nova is unique in itself. I think also that some trends stay and some go, IE body kits and single wipers are not as liked as they used to be and it seems 'top marque' looks and super low stances are as popular as ever
