turned key off and engine still ticking over? ignition always on?

as above really, i just pulled up turned me keys and the engine just kept ticking over till i pushed brake then cut off but now still showing ignition on? any ideas

the car is a nova gsi with a 2l 8v c20seh engine

Mine did this, check the aux wire coming off the alternator, as mine came loose and earthed itsself, causing the live to track to earth, and make a circuit!

ive checked and all seems fine, but still ignition lights are on :s

mine actually does this when i accidentally touch my wipers. Just check for the plugs on your stalks and your ignition wiring.

If not also check all your earths

unplug the ign switch plug and if goes off then id say try another switch. there were under a tenner from gm.

RickW hero! lol it must be dodgy connection because i just played bout with my indicators and wipers and was goin on off at times then i knocked the dash and the ignition went off, put key in turned over fine turned key off switched off. cheers for help everyone!
