dodgy oil ways ? pressure ?

not quite sure whats up with my 1.2 carb, it runs fine, no probs with anything, but it takes quite a while before oil starts to flick up to the cam side, and im a little worried about the engines future if i keep running it like it.

most of my other engines ive opened the oil cap whilst running and oil gets splattered here and there, but it doesnt seem to be half as pressurized or what not ? not getting an oil light on, it flicks off straight away. doesnt seem to get oil up into the top untill the engines semi warmed up.

i was thinking maybe the oil ways in the head/block have gone solid at the gasket, like the coolant ways sometimes do ? some one else mentioned to me it might be a blocked breather ? any ideas ? i dont wanna have to pull the head off it if possible, but might need to if its the case.

try a decent engine oil flusher... the breather being blocked would cause heavy breathing & if you opened the cap, it would huff & puff like a train

cheers mowgli, it has been stood for a while before it came to me, ill give that a go.
will it be wise to buy an extra oil filter, one for the flush and one for the after change ?

I would. Which oil are you using? Once you've flushed it and drained it, remove the oil pressure sensor and let the really nasty stuff that collects there drain out aswell.

yeah as said, i would use a really good quality engine flush, but be careful i think your not able to rev the engine while its in the oil, would be no harm to drop the sump and clean the gauze for the pick up to the oil pump
