I'm not sure they would fit through the sewerage tunnels. Best stick with British for the full getaway fleet, Charlie.

Depends on which Mini it is is suppose? They changed from supercharged to turbo a few years back. My mates got a tuned Mini One, about 140bhp.

My point is, a Nova wouldnt stand a chance lol

How would they handle on an ice rink like the deleted scene?

The cooper S's do 0-60 from 6.4 - 7.5 depending on model so a standard GTE being 9sec will be left behind. A XE Nova standard should be able to beat it I recon. They are heavy about 40% heavier then a GTE and imo they are for girls :)

Cooper S' are 167bhp, so i think a standard XE would just about have it - GTE/GSI wold have no chance imo

I have both and sorry to tell you guys the Xe wouldnt keep up with my Cooper S

Christ i think my old dears 1400 mini would do a gte/gsi

Nova_Tek
02-12-09, 10:31 AM
If we say an XE Nova GTE is approx 850kg then power to weight will be 176BHP

If we say a Cooper S weighs around 1150kg then it would approx be 145BHP

I recon it would be very close.

Mazz

Exactly, it also depends on the condition of the XE tbh, as some rough ones can make 140bhp, yet goodun's can be 165bhp+

minis handle mega well, id put my money on the cooper s

hmmmmm

My dad has a cooper S with cosmetic works bits and it a) handles like a sack of turd and b.) is slow as you like.

a gte/gsi can be gotten to 140bhpish for relative expense but great performance :) although same money spent getting an XE and tuning would see more fun.

a cooper s would destroy a valver
Contrary to popular belief,a 2l 16v Nova cannot out accelerate ANYTHING

Only real way to find out is to get a standard Mini Cooper S vs A Nova XE (standard engine). See who wins, simples!

My cousin had the 160bhp one and he took me out in it once, they are very nippy cars but the power is nothing like a turbo its just very smooth all the way through so didnt actually feel that fast. Not sure what is was but going down the motorway in my 2.0 8v and a mini flashed me out the way and even with my foot flate he just flew past.

Ive been in a JCW's and waasn't that impressed, she floored it and couldn't scare me, i think a xe nove would be another story

Cant compare a new Mini to a Nova, one is a tinny, crappy, badly built car that is vastly over priced...

And the Nova, well...

If a Nova with an XE in it cant spank a mini of any spec id be very concerned! the XE is a blistering engine and the nova weighs as much as a bag of crisps! its simple physics, plus minis are just "nippy" not brutaly fast!

i didnt do too bad against one of them mini cooper s in my gte, dont think they are that quick but they do sound nice!

Nova_Tek

At the end of the day if that Cooper S engine was in an old skool car it would fly but the Mini is heavy & weighs more then my dads loon Cav MK3. The XE in the Cav would do 0-60 in approx 7.4 secs which is what a Cooper S can do (depending on model) So scrub off about 350Kg's. Like I said only way to find out... DEATH MATCH!!

Nova XE vs Mini Cooper S

Bobminda

A lot of people are slating the mini but it does pull very well, and flys from a standing start along with cracking handling.

My mini certainly feels quick but to be fair ive not really given my Xe a hard time (yet).

It would be close !!

like you say theres only one way to find out......FIGHT !!!

If you want some real data, rather complete random "oh i kept up with one but i had a rocket booster on the roof and he was towing a trailer and had 5 folk in the car" type rubbish then have a look here:

http://www.letstorquebhp.com/fwd.asp

and compare the power to weight ratio.

A Nova GTE has 100hp and 833kg, so 121bhp/ton
A Nova XE with 150hp and weighing say 900kg will have 169bhp/ton

From the above website, we can see a standard Cooper S from '01 has 143bhp/ton.

That means it would be quite a bit faster than a GTE and quite a bit slower than a XE nova.

If however it was a Cooper S Works, or S Works GP then they have 175 and 203bhp/ton respectively so would range from just faster to quite a bit faster than an XE nova.

I cba putting the figures for the mk2's up but i'm sure you can look at them for yourself.

My clio 172 cup daily driver blew a freinds Cooper S away from 30-120mph on the motorway and it kills them in the twisties.

Overpriced, looks gash, girls car and there not fun to drive. Even the GP that i had taken out for a test drive was poor.

Only good thing i can say is the noise of the supercharger is addictive :d

I really cant see why an xe nova wouldnt out drag it tbh.

Thank **** you posted that, I have a mate with a 106 Rallye who keeps telling me my Nova does not weigh 735kg and tells me a turbo Nova will struggle to do a 15 second 1/4, but his Rallye does 15 secs and is mint etc etc, I could kiss you right now.

He just thinks his car is the best in the world (don't get me wrong it is quite fast for a 1.6 8v) and he cant get his head around the fact when mine is done it will annihilate his on the strip, or at least it better do or I'll cry lol
