Hi everyone,

Here is the start of my project. To start with im gonna blame this all on my mate Woody. Hopefully he will post some pics of my van up to show how far we got on today, including the mouse we found, it was a right laugh.

Just some info its a K plate Nova van that me and my dad picked up yesterday, it a non runner but the engine will be swapped for a xe lump. I payed £150 for the van and so far so good, i going to have to get good at welding tho.

cheers Phill

Nice base for a project.

There was a 2.0XE van on this forum a couple years back, in that colour. It was really nice. I hope that doesnt spoil your plans. Good luck.

Don't be a sheep and Xe it,.. 1.7TD FTW

There are next to NO diesels left because of Xe's and diesels being good shells to start with as they are strong but cheap!

That looks rather solid, get your hands round the inner edges of the sills at the rear edge, similarly route out for the same area from the inside of the car, putting your hand down into where the fr seatbelts are located in the quarter panel.

Went on a mission looking in depth if there is any more rust, and nothing so far i recon there is not even a days worth of welding work. happy days:) . ill have more pics up on sunday of engine out, and all sound deadning removed from floor.

looking like there may be a change in engine choice as well, it seems i may have aquired a 2.0 8v enging box loom etc. what do you guys recon?

looks like a decent project mate.

tbh, as balley said, the dervs are gettin rarer now lol, id get it running, either that, or drop the 2.0 8v as its slightly different to XE'ing and not much difference in power compared to an xe.

Keep it up..

Balley
04-12-09, 10:22 AM
If it were mine i would 1.7td, you could get 130bhp out of it easily, would be cheap to run and so easy to fit!

I would not Xe as there are too many!!!!
2.0 8v could be and option
or maybe a 2.5 V6....

But like I say TD FTW

Nice one i like your thinking. I wont be doing the td option, tho i can see why it would be good. Its looking like its gonna be a 2.0 8v at the moment.

I must say i do like the sound of the v6 to.

You may want to ditch that pea shooter bodge of a system too mate, as that's not up to the job, you'll struggle to let the engine breath, lol you'll boot it and it will bog down..

But dam good progress on the shell, good work, keep it up.

Now this is exciting!! not to everyones taste but there we go. I was going to go with a toned down colour and keep it quite standard looking, but this is slowly turning in to a track van so i thought i would go lary blue.

Note the lack of flexi for added bodgeness :)
