Has any one experienced problems when they installed their subs as in could the battery handle it.

No. Poor installation is the issue normally.

It wouldnt be the sub that causes any problems, but the amplifier powering it.

Use power wires of a gauge that is upto the current draw for the amplifier. Route the the Red positive cable as far away from any other wiring as possible to avoid interference (this should be fused within 12 inchs of the battery). Make sure the earth is properly grounded & a short distance from the amp. Likewise keep all RCA & speaker cables as far away as possible from other wires & cabling.

Follow those rules & it should be upto the job, unless your battery is deciding to keel over & die due to the onset of winter. If it still struggles to run, get the alternator output checked.
