Try and get a GTE/GSI as they are bigger, not sure what the SR's run, but i know that the 1.0 and 1.2 ones are different

You need a servo & mc from any Nova. The servo's can vary in shape & size but are all much the same. The master cylinder bore is 20mm on all Novas. The servos are a tad bigger on 1.6 models maybe SRi's? & TD's. iirc the saloons have different bias valve ratings so get a 3dr donor setup to avoid that issue. Make sure you get a complete pair from the same seller/donor car as the m/c's can have varying bolt patterns that mean not ever m/c fits every servo.
Lastly, replace the 1 way valve for a new one from Vauxhall as if they fail, it allows petril vapour up into the servo which perishes the membrane, thus failage occurs.
Just to butt in, will a 1.6 servo and master cylinder go straight onto a 1.2? Wasn't sure if they sit further out and might not line up with the original pipes. Ive got both than came from a gte

definitely mate ;)
Sweet, hopefully that will sort it out then. Cheers lads. *Back on topic*

Definately worth doing imo. Mine did exactly that, so bought a brand new one from Vauxhall only for it to die months later :( £2 one-way valve and a 2nd hand servo later and it was sorted!

Just buy the one you have found. I challenge anyone to feel the difference between a GSi servo & non. As I said, buy them from same source & you'll be fine.
iirc a Genuine servo from a dealer was getting on for £300. As Mazz said, the £2 one way valve will save a new servo from failing again.
I can say now that all my findings in my original reply were from when my B reg servo & valve failed back in 98. Loads of grief buying a servo that doesnt fit onto your master cylinder.
iirc my new servo was about £180 about 7-8 years, needless the say i wasn't very happy when i found out what caused the problem

Is it just called a one way valve? and I assume this is for the servo? Ive gotta try and get my brakes done this weekend so will vauxhall still stock them or is it just easier to go to the local parts place?
Thanks in advance.
Here's an old pic of my GTE (one-way circled)
Not sure if its a special valve though..

Ah that thing! always wondered what it was, I knew the pipe was the vacuum for the servo. Don't suppose you know if it matters what one I order? 1.2 or 1.6?
And back to the servo sizes not making a difference, I cant comment but im sure saloony ran v6 brakes on his 1.0 servo then upgraded to a 1.6 one and said the difference was huge.

I would imagine dealers would keep the valves. Oddly they have a use by date on the packet. Ineresting.
Theres many factors that could affect fitting another GTE type servo & judge its performance. Better condition MC, tighter adjusted linkage, newly bled fluid etc
