Hi guys,

As most of you know my car got hit afew weeks ago.

model: mk2 5 door hatchback

I've got hold of some mk2 wings but the drivers door i got is off a mk1.

My question is will this fit the my mk2 ok? ie the hinges.

Aren't the check straps different as per 2/3 doors?

Mk1 to mk2 check straps are different. They don't line up and the roll pin hole/pin is different sized.

lol Do you know how hard it is to find a rust free mk2 drivers door for a 4 door nova. there are loads for a 2 door but not a 4, I've looked at loads over the last few weeks all rotten. seem to go on the bottom corner. need it this week as need to get every thing sprayed thou the insurance company.

Is it possible to just weld the mk1 strap to my door frame?

Wanna know what worse? There was a mint and i don't just mean mint i mean the cleanest normal person owned Nova I've ever seen in a scrappy around the corner from me. No rust at all, K reg white merit, insides where like new, bay was like new, not a single dent or even scratch. I had a few bits off it, i took the greatest care to remove everything and put them back so sound one could buy what i didn't use.

Annie, afaik your Mk2 should have a welded in pin locator on the shell for a check strap. The Mk1 arm on the door should fit into that connector. If not, just ditch it as its not really essential.

was that silverlake? I went down there last week there were 2 white saloons one was pretty rusty inc the door the other was mint no rust anywhere apart from the drivers door which was rotten.

You should have the mount for the check strap on your door with a knock in pin holding it on, knock that pin out and bin the mount, fit door and line up the strap with your mk2 mount, knock the pin back in and job is done:thumb:

doors now sorted... thanks to all :)

I've found some paint which is a very good match, One prob its a rattle can.
If i give it 3 or 4 coats then rub it down with 1200 grit wet&dry then polish it up with a buffer do you think it will come out ok? polishing it with a buffer will get the shine back??. just cant afford the £200 for spraying the wings.
