hello im trying to find out if phase 2 will be suitable for my courtney charge cooler or will i have to opp for a intercooler as well?also anyone have any pics of how they mounted there charge cooler and the pump,as i had mine fitted to my corsa turbo and the way i had the pump mounted it kept air locking when i turned it of and a had to bleed it when i started it up.

As well as the CC, or do you mean instead of?

well being as a charge cooler is more efficient than an intercooler and assuming your charge cooler is a half decent size i dont see you having any problems

meqan is for a nova and it fits justabove the gear box.

Hmm, I wouldn't run both tbh. You'd be better off with a decent one or t'other rather than both.

Charge cooler will be fine, It might be worth giving courtenay a ring about the air locking. Mark Watt's old Purple Nova Turbo ran a courtenay charge cooler. I'll try and get photos of his engine bay.

cheers the problem was when i turned it of air was getting into the pump as i did not mount it low enough. i and starting a new project thread and will let use all see what im at., the charge coolers looks small but size doesnt always count its what inside that matters,

yes that looks to be the same as mine. i dont want an intercooler as i dont want to be doing much cutting the the mk1 front end

im using a chargecooler, remember the the system is only as good as the pump moving the water around!

my system uses 110l/m water pump charge temps at 363bhp were 29-30 constant even after 4-5 solid runs :D

It's probably the same setup, courtenay sold a good few kits. A fella from L'derry had a mk2 GTE astra with the same setup.

Lol. Thats the radiator and heat exchanger on the front there.

pre rad is at the front, water is forced through it via a pump it then enters the heat exchanger the water passing through absorbs the charged air cooling it as it passes!

What I was thinking.... TBH IMO the Courtenay supplied 'small' charge cooler isnt good enough for ph2. Maybe with a larger flowing pump & the heat exchanger in a good airflow position it might cope, but you may aswell run std power & run the charge cooler setup as it is.

iirc the pace and courtenay ones were used in conjunction with the std intercooler, on there own they are not up to the job, just get a cheap from mount from ebay about 60-100 and will cool alot better imo:thumb:

the one thing with chargecoolers systems they are expensive!

im not wanting to cut my front bumper. i will see how it goes when im plumbing it all up might just get a bigger c,c as im wanting phase 2

Can get a fairly large ic in without chopping bumper etc, look at Keith Robinsons and Andy Bishops turbo's!

Id personally stick with an I/C at that power level, as has been advised, you will not need to chop the car about a great deal, and a simple I/C will look alot neater than the C/C and less to go wrong.

my nova it a mk 1 and want it to look stanard at the front

I see your point, but you need to appreciate how extra boost pressure pushes the charge temps up dramatically. As I said before, keep std boost/chips or choose a proper cooling method.
